We are so thrilled that in one week, on Monday 9/28 from 9:30pm at Caveat (21A Clinton St. in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NY) - we will hold our first ever live taping, focusing on the original entertainers of the animal kingdom: CATS!

Alongside the wonderful GEMMA SMITH of Catbaret and Tails & Tassels, Marina and Gemma will provide their guest expertise and serve as a panel of judges for the round of GAMES to come - and more!

Be sure to pass along this invitation to ANYONE in your network who is in NYC and loves cats, comedy and/or wants to be a part of history! The first 50 in the door will receive a free 6 Degrees of Cats sticker.

This taping is part of Cheerful Earful - the world’s funniest podcast festival. In addition to our guests, we also thank our friends at The Cat Museum of NYC, Girls & Their Cats and our friends at Earbuds Collective for supporting this event!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month - this episode is dedicated to all survivors of domestic / intimate partner violence.

Listen now: Housecats! with YouTube star Jackson Galaxy, Community Cats podcast host Stacy LeBaron and The Urban Resource Institute

Felis catus - the “domestic house cat”. What does that label mean for the hundreds of millions of domesticated yet house-less cats - and how does the answer to this connect to both human and cat welfare? In this special episode, released during October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’ll be joined by Community Cats Podcast host Stacy LeBaron, who will share success stories of the “mosaic of support” that benefits both humans and their feline family members. We’re grateful to also have two special guests from the Urban Resource Institute who shed light on the #1 cause of homelessness in New York City, and why cats are a part of the solution.…

We cannot believe that seven of nine episodes in season 3 are now OUT in the wild, squeezing into Slack channels, jumping onto the discussion table and knocking weird ideas around in your head.

Thank you all so much for the kind comments, shares and general encouragement you’ve been sharing about this and past episodes. It means a lot! Our mission with this show is to do our part in dismantling harmful myths about all the marginalized and misunderstood things in this world thanks to mis-, dis-, and mal-information that the dominant voices in our cultures have pushed. And if you’d like to help us celebrate, mosey on over here to support your favorite cat-themed culture, history, science AND nature podcast 😉

Speaking of celebrate - we wanted to take this time to celebrate you all for being forces of kindness to cats and their caregivers. Special shout out to rescue and TNR orgs! If you have an extr…

6 Degrees Of Cats — Amanda B. / Captain Kitty

Last year’s winner in the Pet category, we expanded the scope to include nominees such as That’s Just Wild, TIL Climate (MIT), A Matter Of Degrees, What If We Get It Right by and Oceanography, a new podcast by NOAA. What makes this show so special is its unique ability to explore cats within the context of Jungian psychology, Egyptian culture, cultural traditions, and ancient societies. So, it’s not a “cat” podcast (Sorry, J.D. Vance). What we like most about 6 Degrees of Cats is its scholarly approach to cats, the hosting skills of Amanda B, and the catchy, frisky audio.

It was a total honor to be chosen among such INCREDIBLE podcasts - serious…

As summer turns to fall, get ready for the new slate of programming on the tee vee and the big screen…which then becomes the tee vee again, thanks to streaming.

Apropos of the last episode, which we hope you loved - have you seen any good films lately? Were there any cats in them?

In this edition of The Captain’s Log, we are going to share some bits and bobs from behind the scenes (BTS - not to be confused with the huge K-Pop group) of the documentary we discussed in this episode, 25 Cats from Qatar, and then provide a few movie reviews of films featuring cats based on our completely objective, totally unbiased criteria.

If we fundraised $2k a month, we’re covered for the r…

Yay! Our first two episodes of this season dropped, inspired by catnaps! How’d you like them?

In the interim, we’ve had at least 7 sleep cycles, or more if you’re counting cat naps.

Since adopting Peanut, I - Captain Kitty, or Amanda if you’re self-serious - have started looking forward to bedtime, mainly because SHE loves bedtime. Unlike Binky and Snuggles - who prefer to roam around the apartment in between catnaps - at about 11pm ET, Peanut starts getting restless. I know it’s then time to do the Peanut Bedtime song and let her lead me into the bedroom. She’ll do her little zoomie for a few minutes, then settle between my knees into near-instant slumber. It’s very inspiring. And apropos of the episodes we just dropped -

• [Season 3 Premiere] Catnaps! On Pilates and rest with Pilates practitioner Mary Bowen and The Nap Ministry founder Tricia Hersey, M.Div.

• Catnaps! Part 2: Cats, Dreams & the Unconscious with Jungian analyst Mary Bowen & Nap Ministry’s Tricia Hersey

Hope you’ve been resting well - and now, let’s look to our cats and our DREAMS!

In part two of this sleep and dream series in "6 Degrees of Cats," your favorite cat-themed history, culture, and science, let’s find out what your dreams (and your cat’s) mean…if anything!

Returning to the podcast are Jungian analyst Mary Bowen, the senior most Pilates practitioner to have studied under Joseph Pilates who explains Jung’s deepest mission for us in the unconscious and relates it to her own journey. We’ll also excavate the profound collective consciousness of The Dreamspace with The Nap Ministry founder and Bishop Tricia Hersey, M.Div., author of New York Times bestseller “Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto” (Little, Brown Spark) whose follow up, “We Will Rest! The Art of Escape” (Hachette), helps us navigate a path to true liberation and connection to self and others.

And cats, of course.

After this episode, take note of your dreams and discuss them with your cat. Or with yo…

We are so excited to announce that next week, on June 17th, Season 3 of your favorite cat-themed culture, history and science podcast kicks off with two cultural powerhouses:

[SEASON 3 PREMIERE!] Catnaps! On Pilates and Rest with pilates practitioner Mary Bowen (Lifelong Pilates Plus Psyche with Mary Bowen) and author and activist Tricia Hersey, M.Div (The Nap Ministry)

• Tricia Hersey, NYT bestselling author of Rest Is Resistance and founder of The Nap Ministry

• Mary Bowen, the world’s most senior living Pilates instructor to have studied directly under Joseph Pilates

They share insights on rest, Pilates, burnout and how cats model a more restful - and radical - way to live in part 1 of a two-part series celebrating…CATNAPS! While these episodes were produced awhile ago, we have a feeling you’ll find the topic especially timely - and hopeful!
