Communications break down, plans go sideways, and our minds don’t seem to cooperate.

Add Venus retrograde, and suddenly you’re questioning what you thought you wanted. But choices have consequences, and Saturn retrograde is there to make sure you face the music.

Fortunately, today’s Moon in Krittika offers a survival kit for all this planetary mayhem. And it can be summed up in two words, made famous by Frank Costanza on Seinfeld:

SERENITY NOW!

Serenity isn’t found in regretting the past or worrying about the future. It’s found in the eternal present. And if you examine this very moment closely, you may discover that right now, everything is okay.

Krittika is associated with the Pleiades, the celestial cluster sometimes called the handful of doves—a beautiful symbol of peace.

Yet in Vedic astrology, Krittika is symbolized by a sword.

What does a sword have to do with inner peace?

A sword cuts. And Krittika’s sword cuts through the illusions that disturb our peace in the first place—especially the carefully constructed image we have of ourselves.

We spend so much energy defending that image, terrified that someone might see our flaws, expose our weaknesses, or discover that we’re not quite who we pretend to be.

But what happens when we stop defending ourselves?

My first spiritual teacher once put that question to the test.

He gathered us in a circle. One by one, we had to stand in the center while everyone else delivered the most brutal criticism they could muster.

It was horrible.

But something extraordinary happened when I faced my deepest fear of being exposed, judged, or found less than perfect.

I discovered that beneath the part of me that could be criticized was something untouchable.

And that’s the secret weapon Krittika offers us.

When you discover the peace that exists beneath your fears, judgments, and insecurities, the world can go haywire without taking your serenity with it.

Mercury can retrograde. Plans can unravel. People can criticize.

But your inner peace doesn’t have to go anywhere.

Serenity now. And I mean NOW.

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

The Mind Heals Where Logic Ends

As the week begins, the Moon takes us beneath thought—and reveals the hidden purpose of intuition.

Katy Jane

This week begins with the Moon in Aśleṣā, six stars in the constellation Hydra.

Those six stars are said to represent our five senses—and the mysterious sixth sense that knows something before we have any logical reason to know it.

Your gut feeling.

Your intuition.

That knowing that arrives before the rational mind can explain why.

One of the best examples of Aśleṣā I can think of is the movie The Sixth Sense.

The little boy sees dead people. And not peacefully departed souls. He sees them in grotesque scenes, exactly as they died. Everyone thinks something is terribly wrong with him.

Until we discover that he isn’t seeing them because he’s disturbed.

He’s seeing them because he’s meant to help them heal.

And that tells us something important about intuition.

Intuition doesn’t always take us toward what is comfortable. Sometimes it pulls us beneath the surface of the mind, toward the places where something remains unresolved.

This is the principle behind practices like hypnosis and past-life regression. We temporarily move beyond the linear logic of the rational mind and enter a deeper level of awareness—a place where things may not make logical sense, but somehow we know.

The ancient Vedic tradition understood the extraordinary power of this part of the mind.

Patañjali devotes the third chapter of the Yoga Sūtras to siddhis—extraordinary capacities of consciousness that arise when the mind becomes profoundly concentrated. He describes things that sound impossible to the rational mind: knowing the future, extraordinary strength, perceiving things at a distance, even levitation.

But perhaps the most important thing to understand is this:

The deepest levels of your mind contain capacities that your ordinary thinking mind cannot access.

This is also where some of our deepest healing can happen.

And that’s especially significant this week because we are entering the final days of Pitṛ Pakṣa, the sacred fortnight devoted to our ancestors.

Aśleṣā reminds us that we don’t heal everything at the surface.

Some patterns belong to much deeper layers of ourselves. Some may have been carried through our families for generations.

And yet accessing that deeper place doesn’t have to be complicated.

It can be as simple as prayer.

Prayer works because, for a moment, you stop trying to fix everything.

You surrender your doership.

You hand what you cannot resolve with the rational mind to something greater than the rational mind.

So during these final days of Pitṛ Pakṣa, pray for your ancestors.

Not perfectly. Not intellectually.

Pray from your heart.

Offer them your love. Ask that whatever pain, longing or unfinished karma has traveled through your lineage be healed.

Because this week is a threshold.

We are clearing what came before us in preparation for what comes next.

And on Sunday, Navarātri begins—the descent of the Divine Mother.

A question for you:

Have you ever known something before you had any logical reason to know it? What happened? Please share your reflections in the comments. I just love reading your thoughts!

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

P.S. The ancient Vedic seers didn’t leave intuition to chance. But I recognized something else about her.

I felt the same longing in her eyes that I’ve always felt in myself.

I have no idea what Agnes was longing for at twenty. To be loved? To be free? To belong? To become someone? But looking at her, I felt as though I knew that longing.

And it made me wonder how much of what we long for actually begins with us.

Maybe your mother couldn’t give you the love you needed because she spent her own life longing for the love she never received from her mother. Maybe your father passed on a fear he had inherited from his father.

And suddenly their unfinished business becomes ours.

The Vedas call these impressions samskaras. They are how the past keeps finding its way into the present.

It can feel terribly unfair. Why should you have to carry something you didn’t create?

But the Vedic tradition turns that question around.

What if you didn’t come into your family because of what they could give you? What if you came because of what you could give them?

A beautiful teaching in the Vedic tradition says that when a yogi is born into a family, the benefit of that person’s practice and devotion reaches backward through the ancestral line and forward into generations yet to come.

And it happens in a surprisingly simple way.

Usually, an old hurt makes us react. That reaction creates another action, another consequence, another samskara. The story continues.

The yogi does something different.

She feels the old pain, but instead of immediately acting from it, she watches it.

This is what Krishna calls nishkama karma: action that doesn’t bind us to more karma. The old pattern reaches us, but we don’t pass it on.

And our freedom, according to the Vedic tradition, doesn’t end with us.

It becomes merit for the lineage.

Which made me look at Agnes differently.

I had been wondering what I inherited from her.

I hadn’t considered what I might be here to give back.

A question for you:

What’s one pattern in your family you hope ends with you? Please share your answer in the comments! But what surprised me was his explanation for what might be happening.

He thought an unhappy ancestor in his family was at work.

Someone had died with something unresolved, and now that unfinished business was visiting itself upon the living.

So he needed a few days off to perform a jāgar.

A jāgar is an all-night ceremony practiced in the Himalayan region where I lived. The word literally means “awake.” The family stays awake through the night and brings in someone skilled in invoking and communicating with the ancestor.

The purpose is to find out what happened.

Who’s unhappy?

What do they want?

What did they leave unfinished?

Maybe there was a debt that was never paid. A promise that was never kept. A wrong that was never made right. Something happened in that person’s life that prevented them from leaving peacefully.

Once the family understood what the ancestor wanted, they would try to resolve it. The debt would be paid. The obligation fulfilled. The appropriate offering made.

And, hopefully, the cows would stop dying.

This may sound strange to us. But where I lived, looking to the ancestors wasn’t some exotic spiritual idea. It was one of the first places people looked when something began happening in a family that they couldn’t explain.

An illness. A financial loss. A divorce. Debt. A pattern that seemed to keep repeating itself. Even illnesses that moved through the family line.

The question was: Did this really begin with you?

I’ve been thinking about that story because we have just entered Pitṛ Pakṣa, one of the most sacred times of the Vedic year.

Pitṛ Pakṣa is the waning lunar cycle in the month of Bhādrapada devoted to the ancestors. For these 15 days, the tradition says the dead come close.

And we have an opportunity to reach back.

We carry two streams of karma into this life. One is prārabdha karma, the karma we bring from our own past, and the other is pitṛ karma, the karma carried through our family line.

We inherit much more than our grandmother’s eyes or our father’s nose.

We inherit stories. Patterns. Debts. Losses. Ways of loving. Ways of surviving. Things that were never spoken about. Things that were never finished.

And this is what makes Pitṛ Pakṣa such a sacred opportunity.

We can do something about it.

We can remember the people who came before us. We can make offerings for them. We can acknowledge what was unresolved. We can repay what needs to be repaid. We can pray for their liberation—and, in doing so, perhaps liberate something in ourselves.

Tibetan Buddhists call this a precious human birth because human consciousness gives us the possibility of doing something extraordinary.

We don’t simply have to repeat the karma we inherited.

We can become conscious of it.

We can work with it.

And sometimes, we can be the person in the family through whom something very old finally comes to an end.

This week begins with the Moon in Ashwini, the star of the twin healers.

Perhaps the healing Ashwini asks of us this week goes much further back than we think.

What if something you’ve been trying to heal didn’t begin with you?

I’d love to know: Is there a pattern in your family that you’ve wondered whether you’re here to finally break? Tell me in the comments.

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

P.S. What if you could see the hidden patterns shaping a life—and know how to change them? Master The planetary configuration at that exact instant reveals what the soul has brought with it—its gifts, relationships, unfinished karma, and the evolutionary journey ahead.

And then, at death, the clock pauses.

From the Vedic perspective, death is not an ending but an interval.

The soul leaves the body, carrying its unfinished karma. When it takes birth again, the clock begins again at the exact moment it left off, and the journey continues.

So where are our loved ones in the meantime?

This is the mystery at the heart of Pitru Paksha, the sacred fifteen-day period that begins with tonight’s Full Moon.

The Vedic tradition teaches that the dead have left their bodies, but they haven’t necessarily left their relationship with us.

And during Pitru Paksha, they are believed to come especially close.

The veil becomes thin.

They may come in dreams. You may suddenly feel someone’s presence. Catch something in the corner of your eye. Remember a person you haven’t thought about in years. Or simply feel the unmistakable presence of someone you loved.

And the tradition tells us not only to remember them.

It tells us to feed them.

To leave a little food. Pour a little water. Say a prayer. Do something kind in their name.

Because if the soul is still on its journey, our relationship with it may not be over. Perhaps there are still things we can do for those we love—even after they die.

For a while, they’re travelers between worlds.

And for the next fifteen days, the Vedic tradition says:

Set a place for them.
Say their names.
Feed them.
They’re closer than you think.

A question for you

Have you ever felt someone you loved who has died come close to you—in a dream, a sudden memory, a feeling of their presence, or in some other way you couldn’t quite explain?

I’d love to hear your experience in the comments.

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

P.S. A tree doesn’t wonder whether it should become something else. An animal doesn’t lie awake asking, Why am I here?

Only human beings do.

Because we have something the rest of nature doesn’t have in quite the same way: choice.

We can act blindly from our wounds, chasing what gives us pleasure and avoiding what causes us pain. Or we can choose to align our actions with something higher—the deeper evolutionary path of the soul.

That is the Vedic definition of success.

Not how much money you make.
Not how much power you accumulate.
Not whether the world approves of your choices.

But whether the life you’re living is moving you toward the person you came here to become.

This is why **Jyotisha—the science of light—**was given to humanity: not simply to predict what will happen, but to help us make choices that lead toward greater happiness, fulfillment, and growth.

And right now, the sky is asking us to act.

Since September 18, Jupiter and Mars have come together, beginning a powerful cycle that continues into April 2027. Mars is our capacity to act, while Jupiter represents the higher vision that gives those actions meaning.

This is a time to move toward the life you actually want.

Take the risk.
Make the change.
Build the thing you’ve been imagining.

And Saturday’s Full Moon brings one more reminder: we are only visiting here.

Everything we accumulate, protect, fear losing, or desperately try to control is temporary.

So what do you really have to lose?

Perhaps the greatest risk isn’t changing your life.

Perhaps it’s reaching the end of it and realizing you never fully lived the one that was calling you.

I want to hear from you: What is one change you know would bring your life into greater alignment with the person you’re here to become? Tell me in the comments.

From my heart,

Dr. Katy

P.S. Are you feeling like it’s time to make a big, bold move? You’re not imagining it. And who am I beneath what I think?

Ganesha represents this very threshold—the portal between the known and unknown, the material and spiritual.

Because knowledge and wisdom are not the same thing.

Knowledge gives us information. Wisdom allows us to see beneath appearances—to recognize the deeper pattern behind what we’re seeing.

And beginning around September 18, this becomes personal.

Mars and Jupiter come together in Dharma-Karma Yoga, bringing questions of work and purpose to the surface:

What am I here to do?

Is the work I’m doing still meaningful to me?

Who am I if what I do changes?

We’re already watching this happen everywhere.

Even astrology has changed. You once needed an astrologer to interpret your chart. Now you can generate that information instantly.

So perhaps the astrologer’s role is changing too.

A Jyotishi—one who brings light—isn’t here simply to tell you what your chart says.

It’s to illuminate what you couldn’t see before, so you can know for yourself.

In a world with more information than we’ve ever had, perhaps that’s the wisdom Ganesha is pointing us toward:

The answer isn’t knowing more. It’s learning how to see.

What are you being asked to see differently right now? Roar like a lion.

There is something deeply dignified about the elephant. It doesn’t rush. It doesn’t need to prove its strength. It simply moves with the quiet authority of knowing what it is.

And then there is the lion—the courage to make yourself heard.

Together, they feel like the perfect image for the moment we’re living through:

Know who you are. And don’t be afraid to express it.

It also makes me think of the phrase “raising consciousness.”

And one of the great consciousness-raisers of our time was Gloria Steinem—an elephant-lioness if there ever was one.

She helped women see themselves differently.

And that’s what raising consciousness really is.

You begin to see yourself differently.

The 1960s were a time when people everywhere were beginning to question who they were, how they were supposed to live, and what was actually possible for their lives.

And I think we’re in another one of those moments now.

Because whenever the world changes dramatically, we have to change our idea of who we are within it.

Back then, technology was beginning to reshape the world.

Today, it’s AI.

And AI is already changing something incredibly fundamental:

how we work.

That matters because we’ve spent our whole lives defining ourselves by what we do.

We ask children, What do you want to be when you grow up?

We meet someone and ask, What do you do?

But what happens when technology begins doing more and more of the things we once believed defined our value?

Maybe the real question AI is putting before us isn’t:

What will I do now?

It’s:

Who am I when what I do no longer defines me?

Maybe that’s the consciousness-raising of our time.

And maybe that’s the invitation of today’s Elephant-Lion Yoga.

Walk like the elephant.

Grounded in the dignity of knowing who you are.

Roar like the lion.

Have the courage to express it.

So I want to leave you with this question:

Who are you becoming as the world around you changes?

Please share your thoughts in the comments.

From my heart,

Dr. Katy

P.S. But once I did, I couldn’t not notice it.

There was something strangely disorienting about being around someone who never addressed me by name. I found myself feeling detached in his presence. Almost disassociated from myself. And, in a way I couldn’t quite explain at the time, disempowered.

It made me wonder:

What happens when someone says your name?

Maybe hearing our name doesn’t simply get our attention.

Maybe it calls us into presence.

In Vedic astrology, the Moon points to something much deeper than personality. You might call it your soul, or your energetic signature—the particular pattern of consciousness that incarnated as you at the moment you were born.

And the Vedic tradition understood something remarkable about that signature:

It has a sound.

Each of the 27 lunar signs—the nakṣatras—is associated with particular Sanskrit seed sounds. Traditionally in India, the name given to a child contains the sound associated with the Moon’s nakṣatra at birth.

Your name doesn’t simply identify you.

It contains something of the energetic signature you were born with.

Maybe this helps explain something else about traditional Indian culture.

Personal names are not spoken as casually as they are in the West. Within families, people are often addressed by their relationship to one another—mother, sister, brother, auntie, uncle. Traditionally, a wife doesn’t call her husband by his given name.

The person is there. The name is known.

But the name is sacred.

I’ve written before about the sound signature of the Moon and how its Sanskrit sounds can bring us back into resonance with our own energetic pattern.

But lately I’ve been thinking about something deeper.

What if your authentic name isn’t simply something you are called?

What if it is something you are being called back to?

We spend so much of our lives learning who we are through other people—what they call us, what they expect from us, what they admire in us, what they reject in us.

Perhaps the deeper work is learning to recognize ourselves even when no one else is saying our name.

To become familiar with the deeper pattern within us—the one that was there before the world began telling us who we should be.

The more clearly we recognize it, the less we need someone else to define us or tell us who we are.

We know our own name.

Not because someone else has called it.

But because we know for ourselves.

I’m curious: How do you feel when someone you care about says your name? Tell me in the comments.

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

P.S. And perhaps that is precisely their purpose.

There are moments when life refuses to make sense. When our usual explanations fail, and the rational mind simply cannot take us any further.

We are forced into another way of knowing—the intuitive, the mysterious, the infinite.

I believe this is where we are heading collectively.

Artificial intelligence may provoke one of the greatest spiritual crises humanity has ever faced. As machines become capable of answering more and more of our questions, we will be confronted with the one question no machine can answer for us:

Who am I?

Not: What do I do?

Not: What do I believe?

Not my profession, personality, history, identity, or story.

But beneath all of that—

Who am I?

Follow that question deeply enough and every finite answer eventually disappears.

And that is where we encounter infinity.

Not because we finally discover the answer, but because we discover that the deepest question of our existence cannot be answered by the mind at all.

This is the territory of Ketu.

This is mokṣa.

Perhaps the unknown we spend so much of our lives trying to escape is actually the doorway to liberation.

What are you trying to make sense of right now that simply makes no sense?

What if you stopped demanding an answer—and allowed the question to take you deeper?

Let us know in the comments. A particular set of circumstances, relationships, challenges and desires has been teaching us something. We live inside that curriculum for a time.

And then the eclipses come.

Something culminates.

Something is exposed.

Something is washed away.

And another evolutionary cycle begins.

This is how profound change often happens — not all at once, but through these successive movements of experience that continually ask us to become more conscious.

And this eclipse in Śatabhiṣā asks a particularly important question:

What if the wound that is appearing now is showing you where your old life strategy no longer works?

Maybe trying harder isn’t the answer.

Maybe accommodating everyone else isn’t the answer.

Maybe staying in the relationship, carrying the family burden, pursuing security in the same way, or continuing to build your life around an identity that once protected you — but no longer fits you — isn’t the answer.

Sometimes healing requires more than fixing the problem.

It requires changing the strategy.

That is what I would pay attention to tonight.

Where has life become unsustainable?

What are you finally unwilling to carry into another six-month cycle?

And what is the wound revealing about the life that wants to emerge next?

Let us know what’s coming up for you in the comments.

From my heart,

Dr. Katy

P.S. It simply sheds it.

That’s what this eclipse is asking of us.

Eclipses give us an opportunity to clear away some of what we’ve accumulated over the previous six months. But because this one takes place in Cancer—the sign of our emotions, memories, family, and the past—it can bring things to the surface that we thought we had already dealt with.

Old feelings may return. Ancestral and family patterns can become more visible. You may find yourself obsessing over something or feeling an urgent need to do something about what you’re feeling.

But perhaps you don’t need to do anything just yet.

The ancient advice around eclipses is actually quite simple: allow the process to happen.

Don’t fight what is coming up. Don’t assume every feeling requires an action. Let the old skin fall away.

And remember, this is only the beginning.

Today’s solar eclipse is followed by a lunar eclipse on August 28. The space between the two eclipses becomes a kind of passage—a powerful few weeks for emotional, spiritual, and inner growth.

I’m not terribly superstitious about the traditional warning against making major decisions during eclipses. But I do think there is wisdom in waiting until the dust settles before deciding what everything means.

Especially because what comes afterward looks very different.

September promises to be a spectacular month—a crowning month of the year.

And after the lunar eclipse, we begin a new six-month cycle. The focus starts to change. What has occupied so much of your attention begins to give way to something new.

The beautiful thing about Vedic astrology is that you don’t have to guess where that new chapter is opening. Your birth chart shows where the eclipses are working, what is reaching completion, and where life is preparing to move you next.

If it’s been a while since we’ve looked at your chart—or if you’ve never had a reading with me—this is a wonderful moment to do it.

Come sit with me, and let’s look together at what the next six months are bringing into your life.

[Book Your Vedic Astrology Reading → HERE]

When You're Right but Peace Is More Important

The Summer Solstice, the Moon in the "outstretched hand," and the surprising power of refusing to defend yourself.

Katy Jane

Stretch Your Hand First

My guru often offered a simple policy for navigating conflict:

Stretch your hand first. Be the first to say you’re sorry.

He illustrated this teaching with the story of a monk who was beloved and respected throughout his village. People admired him so much that they practically worshipped him.

He acted like he didn’t care for their praise. He was unmoved.

One day, an unmarried young woman became pregnant. When questioned about the father, she falsely accused the monk.

The villagers immediately turned against him. They insulted him, rejected him, and drove him from the village.

The monk never protested.

He never argued.

He never defended himself.

He simply gathered his few belongings and moved to a nearby cave.

Months later, the young woman confessed that the child belonged to someone else. Filled with shame, the villagers sought out the monk and begged his forgiveness. They insisted he return to them.

Without a word, he returned to his former hut. And carried on exactly as before.

Beyond Praise and Blame

Neither praise nor blame had moved him.

Neither worship nor rejection had disturbed his center.

He remained established beyond the opposites of right and wrong, gain and loss, honor and dishonor.

Extreme Sun, Extreme Ego

The week begins with the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere. It’s when the Sun is at its brightest. The light is intense. And so is the ego.

The Sun is currently moving through Ardra, a nakshatra that can bring challenges to the sense of “me and mine”—particularly with the question, “Why me?” Old wounds, emotional reactions, defensiveness, and the desire to protect ourselves may feel especially strong.

To add to this heat and pressure…Mars, the warrior planet, is stirring domestic tensions from Krittika, increasing the possibility of conflict, impatience, or frustration in our personal lives.

At the same time, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus have gathered together in Cancer.

This is allows us to choose a better way. A more enlightened approach to conflict.

Cancer seeks emotional connection. Venus brings kindness. Mercury supports communication. Jupiter encourages wisdom and understanding.

One set of influences pulls us toward reaction.

The other invites us toward compassion.

The choice belongs to us.

What Will You Choose?

This week begins with the Moon in the Hasta constellation, the “outstretched hand.” The question this week is not whether conflict will arise.

The question is how you will meet it.

Will you defend every criticism?

Will you insist on being understood?

Will you need others to acknowledge that you are right?

Or will you remain rooted in something deeper?

Like the Monk, you’re free to choose how you will react. Your peace doesn’t depend on the approval of others, nor is it threatened by their disapproval.

This week, before reacting, pause.

Before defending yourself, pause.

Before trying to win, pause.

Ask yourself:

What would happen if I stretched my hand first?

You may discover that peace arrives much faster than victory ever could.

From my heart,

Dr. Katy

Monday Moon Muse: Vedic Insights for the Week Ahead

When Heart and Soul Align, It’s Time to Act

Katy Jane

This week begins with something powerful.

Both the Sun and the Moon are in exalted positions.

When the two luminaries in the sky are this strong, something inside you comes into focus. Something you’ve wanted but put off because the timing wasn’t right.

This week, the timing begins to shift.

There’s a sense that what lives in your heart—what you feel drawn toward in a deeper way—isn’t just a passing thought. It’s about recognizing that a door is open and allowing yourself to step through it.

Even a small decision in alignment with your life’s highest purpose will lead to a positive outcome from now until the end of the year.

What makes this moment even more significant is what’s coming next.

On June 1st, Jupiter’s exaltation in Cancer begins, opening a much larger cycle of growth that supports what is aligned with your heart and your deeper direction in life.

This week feels like the beginning of that story.

But before something new fully takes root, something else completes.

You may notice that what once held your attention or energy no longer feels the same. There’s less attachment. Less urgency. More clarity.

This doesn’t mean anything went wrong. It means you’ve reached the end of a cycle that began last year.

There’s a kind of graduation happening here.

And with that comes the question: What’s ready to begin now that you’ve completed what came before?

This week brings an opportunity where luck aligns with your goals—embrace it.

From my heart,

Dr. Katy

P.S. This is one of those moments where the right decision can change everything. If you want support identifying your purpose—and taking the exact steps to move it forward—I’ve created a new personal guidance program for that.
You can see all the details here: https://drkatyjane.com/mentorship-new

Monday Moon Muse: Vedic Astrology Insights for the Week Ahead

Your ego isn't the problem.

Katy Jane

This week, our attention shifts to the Sun, as he moves into his sign of exaltation—bringing the question of ego front and center.

We hear so much about ego these days, and almost always in a negative way. It’s blamed for narcissism, conflict, and disconnection. But the truth is more nuanced.

In Sanskrit, ego is ahamkāra—the “I-maker.”
It’s not who you are. It’s an instrument.

And like any instrument, it can either distort… or express something higher.

A healthy ego isn’t the enemy.
It’s what allows you to take up space, make decisions, and move toward your life’s purpose.

Without it, there’s no direction. No momentum. No sense of “I am here to do this.”

But the ego also creates separation.
And with that separation comes friction, longing, and sometimes pain.

That pain isn’t a mistake.

It’s part of the design.

Because over time, the “I” begins to turn…
Not outward in grasping—but inward, toward something deeper.

And when that happens, something shifts.

You begin to sit in the seat of your being.
Not trying to prove yourself. Not trying to defend yourself.

From that place, the ego doesn’t disappear.
It becomes your servant.

And this is the paradox:

It takes a strong ego…
to surrender.

A Powerful Ending to the Week

By Sunday, both the Sun and Moon are exalted, marking the arrival of Akshaya Tritiya—one of the most supportive days of the year.

This is a time to:

Begin a new financial or business venture

Set intentions that you want to grow over time

Deepen your spiritual practices

Actions taken on this day are said to increase and multiply, carrying lasting impact.

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

P.S. It’s a nakshatra that speaks to ease, comfort, and the enjoyment of what has been earned.

And yet, this week carries a subtle tension beneath that promise.

You may feel the desire to rest, but find it difficult to fully settle. A longing for peace may be present, but accompanied by an undercurrent of unease. It’s as if the conditions for relaxation are there, but something deeper remains unresolved.

This is the paradox of Uttara Phalguni right now: the bed is there, but true rest hasn’t fully arrived.

In moments like this, the instinct is often to look outward—to try to fix what feels off, to regain a sense of control, or to resolve the uncertainty that lingers just beneath the surface.

This Full Moon brings us back to a teaching from the Bhagavad Gita, where Krishna tells Arjuna that what’s night for the ordinary person is day for the yogi, and what is day for the ordinary person is night for the sage.

When the world feels uncertain, when comfort is interrupted, when things don’t quite resolve the way we expect—this is not a mistake in the system. This is the moment when the yogi awakens.

It’s easy to feel centered when life is flowing smoothly. But when there is tension, when there is conflict, when there is a sense that something is unsettled—this is where practice becomes real.

This week invites you to turn inward rather than outward. To sit with what feels unresolved rather than rushing to change it. To allow discomfort to become a doorway rather than a problem to solve.

Because when outer stability fades, inner ground becomes essential.

The yogi does not depend on ideal conditions. In fact, the more unsettled things feel, the more powerful spiritual practice becomes. Disruption sharpens awareness. Uncertainty deepens trust. Challenge strengthens alignment with what is real and lasting.

What shows up as anxiety on the surface can become gravity for your practice.

So notice this week where you are seeking rest externally and not quite finding it. And then gently turn your attention inward. Even a few moments of stillness, of breath awareness, or of mantra can reconnect you to something steady beneath the fluctuations.

This Full Moon is not denying you rest. It is refining your understanding of where rest truly comes from.

Not from perfect conditions, but from a mind that knows how to return home to itself.

From my heart,
Dr. Katy

P.S.
