MacOS Catalina 10.15.8: Factor NOT compatible, but Homebrew says YES and Catalina is still supported #3174

Description

@ToXP

Hello Devs at Factor,

I have an Apple Mac Mini running Catalina 10.15.8, which IS still supported/patched by Apple: last update on this February 2026 -> link:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/101184

I installed your Factor bundle current vs. 0.101 via Homebrew -> link:
https://formulae.brew.sh/cask/factor#default

which states that current requirements for installation are MacOS >= 10.15 (so my Mac should run it).

Nevertheless, after the successful installation procedure, I CANNOT open the Factor.app nor run it via CLI with the command $ ./factor, because two warnings appear (see n.3 screenhot attachments), saying that:

  • Factor cannot be opened
  • minimum required MacOS version is 14.0 to run your Factor.app vs. 0.101

Is it possible that you check and provide backward compatibility with Catalina 10.15.8?
Or, in alternative, can you support the download from the https://factorcode.org/ website - or here from Github - of older versions of Factor, compatible with previous MacOS versions?

Thank in advance you for your expert advice,

Best Regards
