Good Morning, everybody. My name is John Lynch and I’m a horror author from Rhode Island.

This past week, I uploaded the final ebook and paperback files for The Diner. I have nothing more to do aside from promote the book and upload the audiobook when it’s finished. The aim is to have the release as close to the physical and ecopy as possible. The only barrier for that will be how long it takes ACX to approve everything, but I wanted to lock this in so that The Diner is set up for success as much as possible, I believe in the book and think that it has the best chance of any of my books to be a breakthrough. Griswold Addams, the voice of The Warrior Retreat and Christmas Eve Carnage, returns.

And don’t just take my word for it. I put out an open call for arcs, allowing anyone who wanted to read a chance to do so, with no cap on how many. I sent out about 55 of them, and so far 23 people have rated it on goodreads with a 4.74 average rating. Authors have sent me some amazing blurbs, including this one from Daniel Volpe!

I also woke up to this amazing review on Tik Tok, and wanted to share it! check out Chris’ review!

There’s still time to pre order The Diner, it’s now my second most pre ordered book, though it still has a way to go to catch Christmas Eve Carnage.

The Diner is finished, but that just means it’s on to the next. In about 13k words into my next horror book, a Sci-Fi body horror novel! Stay tuned for more on that in the coming months, I should have much more to say by the end of the year.

Lately I’ve been reading books outside of indie horror, a genre I’ve been reading almost exclusive for the last six years. I’ve found myself enjoying science fiction and fantasy novels, especially. I’m sure I’m not telling anyone something they don’t know, but Empire of Silence, Leviathan Wakes, The Mistborn Trilogy, and The Devil’s, are all fantastic pieces of fiction.

I’ve also gotten back to my routine at the gym, arriving at 5 am before working a 14 hour work day, Monday through Wednesday, and then mid morning workouts Thursday and Friday it feels good to be back in the habit.

As far as gaming goes, I’ve been working my way through Doom Eternal, my second play through. No reason in particular I just wanted something mindless to play while awaiting the years big upcoming games. I’ve also been playing switch 2, and CyberPunk has been what’s remained in the cartridge slot.

Thank you all for sticking around, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend!

If you’re new here, my name is John Lynch and this is my sporadic newsletter. It’s been a few weeks so I wanted to provide some updates. I’ve finished the formatting for the ebooks and the paperbacks of The Diner, and now that the blurbs have come in, it’s all set and ready to go. The audiobook should hopefully be available around the launch date of September 22 as well!

Speaking of the blurbs! I’m so thrilled that these amazing authors had such high praise for this book. Early readers of arc copies have also praised the book, so I’m confident this book will be one readers really enjoy, in fact, as long as word gets out there, I think this is going to be my bestselling book yet!

If you haven’t yet preordered the book, you can do so

here!

Preordering now helps let Amazon know the book is relevant and will encourage the algorithm to push it toward more readers, so if you plan on picking it up, preordering now will help make this my biggest launch to date! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Now that The Diner is finished and all that’s left is promoting it, I’ve already started work on my next book, which will be my ninth horror book! I’m not ready to talk much about it yet, but it’s going to be a Sci-Fi body horror. I immediately went to work on the next book because by the time The Diner launches it will have been a year and a half between releases, and I never want my readers to wait that long again. Ideally, I’d like 2-4 releases per year. I’m not ready to commit to a release date, it’s far to early for that, but my current aim is to release it winter 2027, just in time for Scares That Care Authorcon!

I’ve read quite a few good books recently. First and foremost, John Durgins most recent release, I Woke Up A Final Girl was fantastic. If you’ve yet to pick that up, I highly recommend it. I’ve also read Headlights, by CJ Leede, and it’s far and away her best book to date, at least in my opinion. Lastly, while in Aruba, I finally read The Only Good Indians, by SGJ and what a great book. If you haven’t read it be sure to check it out!

As far as gaming, I’ve been toiling away at Cyberpunk 2077 and Space Marine 2. Both are fun, check them out if you’re into gaming.

Haven’t watched many tv shows or movies lately, but I did take the little ones to see Minions Vs. Monsters and they loved it, so if you’re a fan of illumination studios animated movies it’s worth checking out!

That’s all I’ve got for now, and don’t forget to pre order your copy of The Diner!

Teddy Ramsdell has been dead for three years. His mother is finally ready to change that.

Lonely, heartbroken, and embittered, Josephine is stuck at home with her abusive husband. She's sick and tired of her quest to move on. Now, with the help of an ancient ritual she discovered in a foreign country, she seeks to lure her son back into the world.

The site of Teddy's death is under new ownership...

The Diner's owner, Gordon, has scraped together the last of his savings to open the restaurant and start a new life. His divorce and addiction have left him in ruins, unprepared to contend with the horror surfacing right under his feet.
Soon, Josephine and Gordon must face the rage of a hell-sent maniac starving for justice...and blood.

Get ready for violence.
Get ready for terror.
Get ready for Teddy.

Thank you all so much for your unwavering support. I cant wait for you to read this one! It’s my biggest and best book yet!

The Diner took a while for a few reasons. The first of which is the fact I’ve been working 70+ hours per week and didn’t have time to write. I also went back to the beginning and changed the tense about half way through to make it put the reader in the story better.

Earlier this year, I challenged myself, due to the influence of my good friend, horror author Jay Bower, to write a minimum of 500 words a day. I started doing that in March and I’ve written more this year than all of last year. If I can keep up the pace, that means going forward you can expect 2-3 books per year from me. I’ve also decided to push this one harder than I have with any other book. Previously, I would finish the book, edit it, and release it with a few weeks of finishing the editing. This time, I’ve decided to send out arcs and keep promoting it for a little over 90 days to make sure I give my book launches the same love and care I give the writing. They deserve that the same attention after I work so hard on them.

This one means a lot to me. It’s a story about grief, addiction, and the lengths people will go when they feel they have no other choice. If you’re reading this I hope you consider grabbing a copy, adding it to your good reads TBR , and helping me make this my biggest launch ever!

It’s been a busy few weeks for me. Last weekend I had the spooktastic book festival, which was held at the Framingham Public Library in Framingham, MA. It was an excellent event and I hope I get to return next year. Other than that, I’ve been working crazy hours again (shocker!). I worked 76 hours of overtime in addition to my normal 80 hours in the two week period. Needless to say, I didn’t get much writing done.

It wasn’t a total creative loss, however, as I didn’t manage to figure some things out for the diner and craft a few ideas and LOOSE outlines for some upcoming projects.

If you’re interested in trying any of my books, my entire catalog aside from Sleeper Train, and Expiration of Sentence, are .99 on kindle! Head to my Amazon Author page if you want to check them out! Or, as always, you can search them on your kindle! With Christmas approaching, now is a great time to pick up the Christmas Eve Carnage duology!

If you noticed my shop is down, that’s intentional. I haven’t set everything up since I moved in August, and if I’m being honest, probably won’t be set up for online sales until whenever The Diner is ready.

I’ve got a few more events coming up. October 4th at Barnes and Noble in Smithfield, RI, and Buttonwoods Brewery, in Providence, RI, on my birthday, October 19! I hope to see you there!

Before I get started on the updates I wanted to let you all know my newest book, Peril Beneath the Surface, is currently on sale for .99! Grab it here if you haven’t done so!

This week was a long one, I did doubles every day at work but I still managed to get some good writing done on my next book, The Diner. It’s still on track to be released by the end of the year, though the scope of the project has grown. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be my longest book to date. I’m really digging how it’s turning out so far and I can’t wait to get it into your hands!

I’ve gotten some good reading done lately. Aron Beauregard’s newest book, Playground: Child of Divorce is excellent and I highly recommend it for splatterpunk fans. It’s not for the faint of heart.

I’ve also been able to squeak in a bit of gaming and I’ve been playing through Death Stranding: Directors cut. There’s something very satisfying about loading up all the packages and just navigating the terrain in order to deliver them.

Last night I went to see the new Jurassic Park movie. I had low expectations for it, but it was much better than I anticipated, so keep that one on your radar!

That’s all I’ve got for now, I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend!

So what the hell am I doing out here? I’m writing! In two days I’ve managed to get 13 thousand words. By far the most I’ve ever written in a short period of time. Originally I was going to finish the book I was currently writing, but I decided to work on something brand new. As I mentioned it’s a good way through, and I expect that momentum to keep going.

As far as other projects go, I’m in the middle of two other books, with one of them being almost complete. If all goes well, you might see three books from me this year, as long as the schedule makes sense.

Other than that not much new going on. Working every day, gym 5 days a week and reading a ton of books. Hope you all have a great weekend

It occurred to me that I haven’t produced a newsletter since August. Well, there is good reason for that, I have had nothing new to report and I didn’t want to simply blow up your inboxes. It is tough to do these newsletters. If I don’t have engagement, they likely go unread, but If I have nothing new to talk about, I feel like I’m bothering everyone. That being said, I wanted to announce a Halloween Sale I’m doing on three of my books. I don’t often put my books on sale, so make sure you nab them! I’ve mentioned in the past that I was going to attend Terror Con, in Massachusetts. I’ve decided to cancel that appearance. I’ll let you all figure that one out until I have something concrete to announced, but I’m excited!.

I recently picked up a copy of Run on Red by Noelle W, Ihli. This book has seen a lot of play on TikTok, and bookstagram and I saw a lot of readers whose opinions I trust talking about it. I’m about halfway through and really enjoying it. I wish I had snagged it sooner! You can grab a copy below

By the time Laura and Olivia notice the headlights tailing them through the hills, it’s too late. What seems, at first, like a case of road rage quickly unfolds into a heart-pounding chase—and a battle for survival.

Who are the men in the truck? What do they want? And can Laura and Olivia outrun—and outsmart—them long enough to call for help, even if it means taking their chances in the hills on foot?

As their situation grows more perilous, the girls realize that the real terror has only just begun. But flight won’t save them from their pursuers. If they’re going to make it home alive, they'll have to fight.

Sleeper Train, the novel I wrote with my good friend Jay Bower is still chugging along. We appreciate all of you who have taken the time to read it and review it. If you haven’t grabbed it yet we would appreciate if you considered it!
