• Essie quick-dry nail polish: OMG, it actually dries quickly AND stays on, I use this top coat! I love my fancy polish (sorry, Dazzle Dry), but this one lasts over a week without chipping. I usually get about 12 days out of it, not a chip in sight, which feels like a small miracle.

• We started a podcast!! My best friend Lynn and I started Philynnit – A Book Besties Podcast, and it’s been such a blast. Two moms. Seven kids. Very different bookshelves. If you love books and chatting with your bestie about what you’re reading, come hang out with us! Available on Spotify, Apple podcasts and anywhere you listen to podcasts!

• Sam’s little bath favorites: In Germany, kids get a cone filled with little goodies when they start school. For Sam’s, I skipped the candy and included this loofah and Mario soap. He LOVES them. The soap smells so good, he’s so proud of washing himself, and he now suggests them whenever we need a gift for someone. Apparently, Sam’s gift guide is coming soon.

• Chewy Tums: Nick keeps these in his car, and honestly? Smartest move ever. One of those little things you don’t think about until you’re very, very glad they’re there.

• Ben’s chess book: Ben is taking a chess class, which is the cutest thing ever, and now he has The Learn to Play Chess Advent Calendar Book. It has 24 lessons that start with the basics and work up to checkmate. A very fun advent calendar idea for a kid who’s getting into chess!

• Amazon Birkenstock lookalikes: OMG, you guys, these are SO comfy. One of those purchases that immediately makes you think, “Why didn’t I get these sooner?”

• Big Little Truths: The best book I read all month. Just absolutely lovely - the kind of book that makes me wish there were more pages because I’m not ready to be done.

• Shameless Snacks variety pack: These candies are soooo good! I love a variety pack because choosing just one flavor feels like an unnecessary limitation.

• What’s fueling October: My current coffee order is a nondairy vanilla sweet cream cold brew. It’s perfect—not quite as sweet as the regular vanilla sweet cream! And on the rare occasion it’s cold enough for me to order something hot (yes, I’m usually drinking iced coffee all winter), I get a vanilla latte with one less pump of sweetener.

October moments:

THIS MONTH’s #1 most purchased item is this beautiful dress. I have it had it fits like a glove (I’m going to use it for family photos) and it’s on sale for $31!!

That’s October! Hit reply and tell me one thing you loved in October. I always love your recommendations.

We’re looking forward to trick-or-treating this weekend! Our neighborhood goes ALL out for Halloween, and with four kids, there is no shortage of excitement (or incoming candy). I’m putting together a slow cooker chili bar, along with vegetarian eggplant chili and slightly sweet cornbread, so we’ll have something warm and cozy to fill up on between answering the door and making the neighborhood rounds. Whether your weekend involves costumes and candy or just staying cozy at home, a pot of soup sounds pretty good right now. Here are six recipes to help you find your next favorite!

1. Butternut squash soup

2. Potato soup, no bacon

3. Slow cooker lentil vegetable soup

4. Chicken and dumpling soup

5. Shortcut white chicken chili

6. Minestrone soup recipe

Here’s a roundup of 14 soup recipes

How is Halloween almost here already?! Life has been soooo full lately (I feel like I’m repeating myself), so we’re going with easy this year. The kids and I grabbed costumes right off the rack at Target, although Freddie’s dragon costume from Amazon is anything but basic—it blows smoke and everything, it’s terrifying. I also bought our Halloween candy at Costco this year, and it was SO much cheaper than last year. With a neighborhood that takes Halloween very seriously, that’s a win! Now I just have to keep everyone (myself included) out of the candy until October 31.

• Frankenstein cookies - surprisingly easy to make and so fun!

• Candy corn snack mix- salty and sweet perfection!

• Seasonal snack mix - easy to make festive by using orange and black M&Ms!

• Monster mini hot dogs - mini hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls and baked, then a dot of ketchup and apply a candy eye ball!

For after trick or treating, might I suggest a slow cooker chili bar, chili dogs, or one of our favorite family meals!

Love List - In this weeks Love List I’m sharing the best (affordable) forest fir candle (it smells like a mix between fall and Christmas, it’s perfection and I’m stocking up!) And I’m sharing a few beauty re-buys and more!

I shared a family meal plan full of inspiration!

First, thank you for the warm welcome you gave our podcast last week (dare I say episode 2 is even better)?! It’s been so fun putting something new into the world with my bestie, and your kind messages and listens have meant so much. Meanwhile, my kids are checking the weather every morning to see if they can still wear shorts. And honestly, I’m checking right along with them because I’m seriously behind on laundry, and another shorts day would really help me out

I always hesitate to say we’re “busy,” because everyone is busy, and there’s probably something to be said about mindset…but whatever we’re calling it, life feels a little full right now! All four kids have multiple activities, and most afternoons involve figuring out who needs to be where, with which shoes, and whether we’ve fed everyone. But they’re happy, and I love watching them find their things—even if I occasionally need to consult the calendar to remember. This week, mine involves pumpkin recipes. Pumpkin spice and all things nice feels like exactly what we need!

• Chicken with pumpkin grits and broccoli - such a versatile fall dinner, it’s easy to put together and super flexible (you can use pork instead of chicken or another vegetable like green beans instead of broccoli).

• Pumpkin spice pancakes - these pumpkin spice pancakes are made with whole wheat flour and are so so good. They’re the embodiment of a fall breakfast and leaves the house smelling amazing.

• 5 Ingredient pumpkin overnight oats - This incredibly easy 5 ingredient pumpkin overnight oats recipe is a delicious on-the-go breakfast which only requires 5 minutes of prep time and is a great way to start your day! Topping options are endless!

• Pumpkin loaf -my favorite fall pumpkin loaf - better than the Starbucks one, and also happens to be one of the most popular recipes on my blog!

• Pumpkin spice latte chocolate chip cookies - These pumpkin spice latte chocolate chip cookies are THE COOKIE that you need to make this fall!

They taste like a pumpkin spice latte, in cookie form and are soooo good, you’ll find the cookies vanishing right before your eyes!

• Not pumpkin but….It’s candy corn season, which means - candy corn snack mix!! The perfect combination of sweet and salty!

Love List - In this weeks Love List I’m sharing the dress I’m buying for family photos - and it’s under $50 and a fun new cookbook, and some mob romances I’m loving.

I make these cornmeal waffles and serve them with storebought chicken tenders for an easy semi-homemade take on chicken and waffles!

Well, my best friend Lynn and I did a thing…we started a podcast! Because apparently two working moms with seven kids between us needed another thing to do, lol. Lynn is a lawyer, I work in compliance/finance for a small natural products business and run SweetPhi, and we’re always calling each other during drop-off or on our way to our “actual jobs.” Most of those conversations turn into book conversations anyway, so we thought…why not record them? We had an idea, worked really well together, and actually made it happen! Philynnit – A Book Besties Podcast officially has its first episode out in the world.

We have wildly different tastes in books but have somehow read a surprising number of the same ones, so there’s plenty to discuss. Everyone is welcome at this book conversation, whether you read constantly or just want to hear two friends laugh about fictional men with wings. Are those wings hygienic? How are they getting dressed? We have questions. Nick listened and said it sounded like hearing us talk on speakerphone - and he laughed, so A++ to him. He also said he wanted to learn more about some of the books we mentioned. Okay, Nick! 👀

In other news, soccer, chess, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and theater are keeping our calendar very full, but I’m so happy the kids are loving their activities (it makes it all worth it when they’re thriving). Between all of that and the excitement of podcast launch week, I’m ready for some easy fall goodness in the kitchen. This week, I’m sharing sweet breakfasts, easy dinners, and fall treats starring maple. 🍁

1. Healthy apple cider donuts with a tahini maple glaze

2. Homemade iced maple latte (no fancy equipment needed)

3. Ham and Swiss with maple mustard mayo a Panera copycat

4. Maple syrup cake omg so good!

And this sheet pan pork chops with sweet potato and fennel, and then omgggg the best thing to slather maple syrup on: fluffy pancakes!!

Fall has finally arrived, and I couldn’t be more excited for this cooler weather! Last year, back-to-school season felt like a huge productivity boost. This year, with Sam in 4K for half days, I feel like I’ve barely started working before it’s time for pick up. I’m still figuring out my rhythm, but I’m happily leaning into all the cozy flavors of the season. Think pumpkin spice pancakes on a crisp morning, a big pot of easy stovetop chili that magically turns into chili cheese hot dogs the next night, and pumpkin spice latte chocolate chip cookies that taste like pure fall happiness.

Pumpkin spice pancakes and overnight pumpkin oats

Chili (easy, stovetop!) and use leftovers to make this kid favorite chili cheese dogs

Chicken with pumpkin cheddar grits - yum! And easy 5-ingredient tomato white bean soup!

Everyday Favorites

• Lined post it notes - I have a real problem, I write way too much on a to do list and then get annoyed when I don’t get it done. I try to just write what fills in the lines in my planner for that day. And I’ll keep adding to the list in the margins, I mean there’s no way I could finish it, I set myself up for failure, why am I like this? Lol. I heard about the post-it method where you only do what gets done on a post it, so I’m trying that…never mind that these are slightly bigger post its.

• Reading is my favorite sport sweatshirt now that it’s fall and getting a little colder, it’s my perfect sweater + leggings weather. I love wearing this reading sweater to soccer games lol, I always get compliments on it!

• Fresh wave odor removing gels - I cook a lot, and my kitchen never smells! These odor removing gels are phenomenal!

• Potted plants as gifts - we’ve been giving potted plants as gifts over here, and I’m kinda loving it. Everyone has enough ‘stuff’ and this is so thoughtful, the kids pick them for friends or when we go to a house for dinner.

Beauty Favorites

• I’ve simplified my skincare sooo much recently. It started with this simple face wash (that is super affordable). I use it twice a day.

• I follow face washing with these disposable towels. They’re magic, I swear my face has never been clearer.

• Or it could have something to do with that I use these zero pore toner pads now. WOW, they’re not harsh, don’t make your skin red, they’re just amazing.

• And then I use this instant-angel lipid firming amazing face moisturizer!

Family Favorites

• Fairy garden - they had a whole section of fairy garden things at the garden store, I said they had to work together to pick one thing, and that we could come back every month, so now the kids are starting a fairy garden and it’s just about the cutest thing ever!!

• I may have mentioned before, but since it’s soccer season, I just have to mention again, these mesh bags are a lifesaver! I put their practice clothes in, zip it up and wash, I’m not loosing things in the wash anymore, it’s amazing!!

Good Things I’ve Been Eating

• Fast and Easy Five-Ingredient cookbook - we’re using my cookbook so much lately. This week we made unfried cornflake chicken and put zucchini and tomatoes on a sheet pan to make it a meal. So good and everyone ate it!

• We also made my Asian ground turkey and rice bowls but instead of ground turkey I used a chuck roast and just cooked it low for 8 hrs. Incredible!

• Frankie and I went to Odd Duck, delish!! And we had Purple Door ice cream on the way home.

THIS MONTH’s #1 most purchased item are these glow in the dark Halloween buckets, and so affordable (under $7 and they’re big)

That’s September! Hit reply and tell me one thing you loved in September. I always love your recommendations.

Casserole season has officially entered the chat, and I am very here for it. I love casseroles this time of year because so many of them can be made ahead, which is basically a gift to my future self on a busy night. And yes, I’m counting lasagna as a casserole because it’s one of my absolute favorite make-ahead family meals!

Soccer has been in fullll swing over here, and this season of life just feels busy in every direction. But at the same time, it’s fall, things are feeling a little cozier, and I’m loving the shift toward warm dinners and comforting flavors. Even on the busiest nights, sitting down together for dinner is still one of my favorite parts of the day.

So this week, I’m rounding up some of my favorite cozy casseroles — easy, comforting dinners that make family meals feel just a little more doable.’

• Chicken enchilada casserole (my kids looooooove this, and it’s a great freezer meal)

• Another stellar freezer meal is this chicken broccoli alfredo casserole

Why not start the day with a casserole?

• slow cooker breakfast casserole

• French toast casserole (only 5 ingredients)

• One pot sausage and rice casserole

• Lasagna - our fave!

• 5 ingredient cheesy beef casserole

• IP chicken spaghetti casserole

Such a busy fun week! I went to dinner with Frankie, followed by ice cream, my favorite soup is this jalapeno chicken noodle - Sam loves it too. Sam had a bad smoothie, puked on the way to school but then was totally fine. I, was not. I had to clean that mess, it was disgusting. Ben made student counsel leadership!!! And I took the kids to a squishy store, these will be the death of me.

Slow cooker season is officially here - although honestly, in our house it’s more out of necessity than the weather right now! We have three kids in club soccer and one doing two acting classes (including one on the weekend!), so our schedule is…a lot.

But as busy as our evenings are, I still really want us to sit down and eat dinner together whenever we can. Enter: the slow cooker. There is truly nothing better than getting dinner going earlier in the day and knowing that when we all come flying back through the door, dinner is already waiting for us. These are some of my favorite slow cooker recipes for making busy nights just a little bit easier.

• Slow cooker pepperoncini chicken sandwiches

• 5 ingredient slow cooker chicken and stuffing

• Mediterranean pulled pork

• Slow cooker pot roast

• Creamy roasted red pepper chicken

• Mushroom and beef burgundy

• Slow cooker ribs

• Slow cooker cranberry chicken

• Slow cooker Italian pork

It is officially apple season - somehow a little earlier this year, although I feel like I say that every year! We’re just about a week into having the kids back at school, and even with a truly intense extracurricular schedule, it has felt like such a breath of fresh air. I get a few focused hours of work each day, everyone has a little more routine, and I have been leaning heaaaavily on slow cooker dinners to keep things moving.

I’ve also been doing school drop-off every morning, and I have to say, it brings me so much joy. The kids are just amazing, and I feel really grateful that I get that little pocket of time with all four of them together before everyone heads off for the day. It’s such a small thing, but I already know it’s one of those parts of this season of life I’m going to miss someday.

And speaking of things all four kids agree on — surprisingly, they all love apples! They’re constantly showing up in lunches, snack plates, after-school snacks…basically everywhere. So this week felt like the perfect time to round up some favorite apple recipes, plus a couple cozy apple cider drinks for good measure.

• Fresh apple cake with browned butter frosting

• Healthy apple donuts with tahini maple glaze

• Mini apple galettes recipe

• Upside down apple and pear loaf

• German apple cake

• 5 ingredient slow cooker apple butter

• Sausage squash apple corn sheet pan dinner

• Snack plate

• 5 ingredient sugar cookie apple cobbler

• BBQ apple cheddar sliders (A FAVE!!)

And with that apple cider you picked up from the orchard why not make an apple cider ginger beer mule or this apple cider old fashioned?

Well, this was the week - all four kids are officially back to school! I’ve been looking forward to getting back into a routine (and, let’s be real, a few uninterrupted hours to work), but then Sam, my last baby, walked into 4K and I teared up. Of course I did. How can you be SO ready for something and also not ready for it at all?! Anyone else?

It was also Nick and my 14th wedding anniversary this week, so apparently we’re just packing ALL the milestones into one week over here. I’ll share a few pictures down in the personal stories section.

With school starting back up, I’m craving dinners that just work. Nothing overly complicated or fussy - just really good meals I know I can get on the table and everyone will actually eat. These are some of my favorites for busy weeknights:

• 5-Ingredient Chicken Pitas – This is probably the meal I make the most. It’s SO easy, so delicious, and one of those dinners I’m always happy to make again.

• Asian Ground Turkey and Rice Bowls – A 20-minute dinner! Flavorful, easy, and exactly the kind of meal I need on a busy night.

• Sheet Pan Greek Potatoes with Chicken Sausage and Zucchini – My FAVORITE sheet pan meal. It has so much flavor and everything cooks together on one pan!!

• Pizza Burgers – Such a fun, easy weeknight dinner and everyone loves these. Pizza + burgers...you really can’t go wrong.

• Skillet Cheddar Turkey Burgers – Burgers made right in ONE skillet! Easy, cheesy and very little cleanup, which is always a win.

• 5-Ingredient Chicken and Stuffing – This slow cooker dinner is almost surprisingly simple for how comforting and delicious it is. And bonus: the kids love it!

• Lasagna with Cottage Cheese – Total comfort food and always a crowd-pleaser. I especially love that I can put it together ahead of time and just bake it when we’re ready for dinner. Ben always asks for this.

• 5-Ingredient Cheesy Beef and Noodle Casserole – Cozy, cheesy comfort food with only five ingredients. This is one of those easy casseroles that just gets the job done.

On the blog this week

Trader Joe’s beef kebab sheet pan meal with green sauce - sheet pan meal made with a TJ’s ingredient - if you don’t have a TJ’s by you, just use a package of chicken sausage!

Love List - on this weeks love list I’m sharing the fun movies we’ve seen lately, the BEST (waterproof) bag for sports moms, luxury earring and the cutest ghost towels (and so much more!)

Two posts got a little update: 5 ingredient chicken gnocchi with alfredo pesto (SO GOOD and easy!) and perfectly baked salmon (THIS is how I make salmon, it’s perfection).

Personal Stories

Back to school happened. Sam got a school cone (a German tradition) because he was starting pre-k. And then Nick and I celebrated our 14 year wedding anniversary (I’d love to celebrate with this anniversary cheese board!!) When Nick and I first met, I lived a bit outside of Milwaukee in the country and the only thing to do was go see movies, so we did that a lot. Plus I just love movies, so that’s how we celebrated our anniversary :)

I truly do not understand where summer went. Somehow we’re already almost at back to school, and lately I feel like I’ve just been go, go, go. I love having the kids home, but I am also very ready for a tiny bit of routine again - and apparently my idea of a “break” is a few uninterrupted hours to work. Who looks forward to work?! Me, I guess.

With everything feeling extra busy right now, I’ve been thinking about the meals I come back to again and again. Nothing fancy, nothing that requires a ton of brainpower — just the dinners I know work, everyone likes, and I can make without overthinking it. So today I’m sharing 9 of those meals: the recipes that are constantly in our rotation and somehow never get old.

• Burgers – we looove a burger night. I get Costco burgers or Bubba burgers which are both frozen burgers, and then season them with the best burger seasoning. The burgers kind of splatter and make a huge mess when cooking stovetop, so I’d recommend grilling the burgers from frozen! We eat red skin potato salad on the side!

• 5 ingredient BBQ meatballs with mashed cauliflower/potatoes and peas - this one is soooo easy, you’re basically heating and assembling, it makes a really good meal prep meal too.

• Italian sausage sandwiches – these are such a huge fave in our house. I browned the sausages/onions/pepper quickly and then put them in a slow cooker for after sports practice.

• Yogurt chicken and balsamic veggies – I made both of these on a sheet pan – 425 for 25-30 min, it was easy and super delish, I served with naan and store bought tzatziki.

• Sheet pan pizza - This sheet pan pizza recipe is so incredibly delicious and feeds a crowd, perfect for your next family dinner or get together!

• Chili - comforting and easy and delicious - and save some for the next item

• Chili cheese taco dogs - Chili cheese taco dogs combine hot dogs with a quick chili, melty cheddar, salsa, crunchy tortilla chips, and crisp lettuce for a fun taco-inspired twist on a classic.

• 5 ingredient BBQ apple cheddar sliders - I’ve legit made these more time than I can count, all the kids love these.

• Slow cooker pepperoncini chicken sandwiches - a simple, flavorful crock pot dinner the whole family will love. Tender shredded chicken with a tangy kick, perfect for busy weeknights or game day.

On the blog this week

Mediterranean feta dip with tomatoes - this is one I have been making on repeat for YEARS!!! It’s my go-to no-cook appetizer!!

My monthly reading roundup/recap!!! This month I read 12 juicy ones and 2 DNF (did not finish…after reading about 50%) - life’s too short for bad books.

August was full of end-of-summer family fun, lots of baseball, good food, and a few things that have earned a permanent spot in our house. Here’s what I’ve been loving lately!

Family Favorites

• A Brewers baseball game! We had SUCH a fun day. One of my favorite discoveries was the UW Credit Union Plaza outside the ballpark. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there’s music before the game, plus a beer garden, mini golf and plenty of room to hang out. It makes going to the game feel like a whole experience instead of just showing up for first pitch.

• The Joie Play Yard at the ballpark. This is pronounced “JOY,” which feels very fitting because my kids had the best time. It’s such a fun, family-friendly area for kids to play - and can we talk about how nice it is to have somewhere for them to get some energy out?

• The family-friendly extras at the ballpark. This deserves its own mention because I had no idea! You can check your stroller at Guest Relations on the Field, Loge or Terrace Levels and pick it up when you’re ready. They even have Mom & Baby Nursing Suites on the Field and Terrace Levels. How cool is that?! I love seeing places make it genuinely easier for families with little kids to come and enjoy themselves.

• Kizik shoes. I walked all around the baseball stadium in these and my feet didn’t hurt! That’s basically all the endorsement I need.

• Pre-cut parchment paper sheets. If you are still cutting parchment paper off a roll, allow me to change your life. We use these constantly - for sheet pan meals, bacon, baking, everything. Pancakes and bacon is one of Frankie’s favorite breakfasts, and putting the bacon on one of these makes cleanup so easy.

• My portable charger. This has saved me so many times (this one is a little more expensive but it has both types of chargers and works on anything). Phone dying? No problem. Kindle dying at an extremely inconvenient moment? Possibly an even bigger emergency. I keep this thing with me.

• The world’s largest Gatorade jug. Okay, probably not actually the world’s largest, but Ben’s is enormous. The upside? That kid is going to be hydrated.

• Ted Lasso spray deodorant. Ben LOVES this. Apparently we’ve entered the stage of parenting where deodorant makes the favorites newsletter, and here we are. I like/have liked for years spray deodorant over roll on, roll on seems unsanitary to me somehow. Anyway, the kids are now loving spray too lol.

Good Things I’ve Been Eating

• Costco cheeseburgers. The pre-shaped frozen ones. I keep these around for easy cheeseburger nights, but they’re also perfect for making my BBQ Apple Cheddar Sliders. I just cut the burgers into thirds and—boom—sliders.

• Gospel BBQ seasoning. We originally found this at Ace Hardware and now I use it ALL the time. One of the easiest dinners: generously season a pork shoulder with it, put it in the slow cooker, and serve the pulled pork with coleslaw and mashed sweet potatoes. So good.

• My slow cooker. I always think of slow cookers as a fall/winter thing, but I’ve been using mine SO much this summer because it doesn’t heat up the kitchen! Chicken sandwiches, Mediterranean bowls, beef dip sandwiches, meatballs with peppers and marinara ... it’s been earning its counter space.

• Ritz crackers. My kids are eating so many Ritz crackers that I feel like I should buy stock. And those little fudge-drizzled ones? Forget it-so good.

Kitchen Favorites

• My Beast small blender. This thing really does blend like no other. I’ve especially been using it for my Magic Green Sauce, which we’ve been putting on chicken and basically anything else that needs a little something.

• Cookbooks from the library. This is my trick because otherwise cookbooks completely take over my office: I check them out from the library first and then decide whether they’re worthy of actually buying. I checked out Parm to Table and Nick liked it so much HE requested that we buy it. That’s a pretty strong endorsement. I also checked out Caroline Chambers’ new cookbook and—GOOD.

A Little AI Love

• AI to the birthday rescue. The bakery wasn’t taking any more orders, so I used Canva AI to make cupcake topper labels. Did it give one of the lizards five legs? Yes. Did I tell the boys it was a mutant? Also yes. Problem solved.

• AI photo editing. Nick used Gemini to remove some bags of chips from the background of a family photo and it worked! It’s these silly little uses of AI that I love—things that would’ve taken way too much time (or that I simply wouldn’t have bothered doing) are suddenly easy.

THIS MONTH’s #1 most purchased item is the OMIEBox Insulated lunch box - can confirm these things are AMAZING- each kid got their own color!!!!

That’s August! Hit reply and tell me one thing you loved in August. I always love your recommendations.

Summer feels like it’s almost done over here. The kids are officially done with camps and are home with me until school starts, and honestly, it’s been really sweet. They’re such great kids, and I love having this time with them. But also… I am kind of really looking forward to school starting. Both things can be true!

My house is a bit of a disaster (somehow my office has officially become the LEGO room, and getting to my desk now feels like an obstacle course), and I’m also dealing with a pretty bad herniated disc that I’m trying very hard to heal the natural way vs. surgery - send prayers!

So needless to say, easy dinners are VERY much the vibe right now, and sheet pan meals are where it’s at. Everything cooks on one pan, cleanup is minimal, and dinner feels just a little more manageable. Here are some of my favorites!

• Sheet pan chicken kabobs - these are our go-to pitas!!

• Crispy hot honey chicken with broccoli and potatoes - super delicious and comforting.

• Sheet pan breakfast - only 5 ingredients, and everything done at the same time!

• Sheet pan chicken sweet potatoes and broccoli with cilantro yogurt sauce - sooo yummy! Great for meal prep.

• Sheet pan Greek potatoes with chicken sausage and zucchini - I’ve made this more times than I can count, it’s always a winner!

• Sheet pan pizza - one of our family favorites!

• We make this 5 ingredient sheet pan salmon allll the time

• This is the perfect fall sheet pan meal: sausage, apple, corn, squash

• Mini meatloaves - we love these and use frozen sweet potato fries with them!

• Sheet pan sausage squash apple corn meal - literally the most delish easy fall meal!

My fave sheet pan tools

• Gold Touch sheet pans - these are the ones I use ALL the time, they’re what’s pictured in all of my recipes.

• A lot of people swear by these Nordic sheet pans. I got them, but they’re not dishwasher safe so mine look ghastly lol.

• These precut parchment paper sheets are my favorite discovery of 2025, they’re life savers!! And one box lasts foreverrrrr.

• This spatula is my fave for sheet pans!

I cannot believe the school year is already here — I swear they just got out of school! And this year feels extra big because all four of my kids will be going to school. Cue all the tears...my babies!! 😭

As exciting (and emotional!) as this time of year is, it also means we’re jumping right back into busy mornings, packed lunches, after-school activities and the nightly question of what are we having for dinner? So today I’m sharing some of my favorite quick and easy recipes for back-to-school season — easy breakfasts, family-friendly dinners and snacks the kids will actually eat. • Parmesan pork chops

• Crispy onion honey mustard chicken

• Chicken gnocchi with alfredo pesto

More fave easy dinners:

• Italian sausage sandwiches (you can make these in the slow cooker, perfect for after sports practice)

• 5 ingredient apple cheddar bbq burgers/sliders

• Salmon bites with avocado salsa

If your kitchen counter is overflowing with tomatoes right now, congratulations—you’re living the summer dream! Whether they’re from your garden, the farmers market, or a generous neighbor, you have plenty of delicious options.

This week, I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to make the most of tomato season—from a tomato tart you seriously have to try to fresh salsas that make every meal better. Let’s put all those tomatoes to good use!

Tomato cucumber salad - this is such a great side for any meal! We make it as a side with these sausages

Grape Tomato Tarts - These little tarts are so yummy, they’re actually one of Nicks favorite recipes I make!

Watermelon salsa - so refreshing and great for summer get togethers. Chips and salsa, yum!

Peach and tomato panzanella - when peaches and tomatoes are in season there’s nothing better than this incredible salad

Balsamic oven roasted tomatoes - that go perfectly on this fancy toast!

I cannot believe summer is almost over. I feel like I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants - and making SO MANY LUNCHES (no peanut/tree nuts is killing me). Honestly, can school start again just so everyone can get hot lunch? I’m dying.

Summer has raced by in a blur of camps, activities, reading programs (I really hope my kids win, lol), sunscreen, bug spray, and trying to keep everyone fed and entertained. The kids are growing up right before my eyes, and even in the chaos, there’s something so special about these long, busy summer days.

This week, I’m sharing a few of our favorite summertime recipes—and Nick had a lot to say about which ones made the cut. We’ve got the sangria that absolutely screams summer, a dip made with garden-fresh jalapeños, a vegetable lasagna that tastes like peak summer in every bite, and the quick dessert I throw together whenever we need something easy and delicious.

Easy summer Sangria - perfect for get togethers!

Jalapeno dip, only 5 ingredients - when peppers are in season or growing like crazy in your garden, make this app! Served with this beer bread

Balsamic grilled vegetables - this recipe works with any vegetables, so great for the summertime. These can be thrown on a sheet pan and baked. I like to make these an the yogurt marinated chicken and put them on the same sheet pan (or add chicken sausage) and bake at 425 for 25-35 min.

We make this yogurt marinated chicken with the above veggies for a meal!

Cucumber salad - refreshing and great with any meal as a side!

Nick loves grilling Cevaps and having it with tomato/cucumber salad

Summer roasted vegetable lasagna - such a delicious summer vegetable lasagna! It’s my favorite all year round to be honest.

We had friends over and made these magic green sauce chicken sandwiches! SO GOOD!

5 ingredient shortbread sundae - this is the best quick summer dessert I do all the time with shortbread cookies and ice cream and a fruit!

I also don’t know how I got so lucky, but my kids have been helping me clean-and my house has genuinely never been so clean. It started because they were going to the pool and wanted a little extra spending money, so I told them they could help me with a few things. They did it willingly…and then helped again the next day, and the next.

I’m not being super strict or running some intense chore chart over here, but I am SO impressed by how much they’re doing. They load and unload the dishwasher-and especially love that they’re allowed to stand on the counter to put away the cups and plates they can’t reach. They bring down laundry, move it from the washer to the dryer, carry baskets for me, and pull clothes right-side out. We are not at the folding stage yet, but I’ll take it!

They’ve also been sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down the table and counters, lining up the mess of shoes by the back door, and folding and putting away blankets. Is everything perfect? Absolutely not. But it is amazing, and I will happily take this kind of help any day.

And then they’ve had lots of summer activities - like a kids summer block party style Olympics at a friends’!

I hope you find a new favorite!

Everyday Favorites

• Scented Wet Ones. These deserve an award. Sticky hands after a playdate? Outdoor restaurant? Random potty accident? Kids who think Mom’s shirt is a napkin? Problem solved.

• This keychain/purse fob. Okay... it’s completely ridiculous for a keychain. But every time I pull it out of my purse it makes me smile, and I never lose my keys anymore because I can spot it instantly.

• Orthopedic sandals. Cute and comfortable. My feet have never been happier.

• “Honeybee” by Olivia Rodrigo. So melodic and pretty - Frankie says it sounds like church music. Ever since hearing this song, Sam has been asking if we can redecorate his room to look like the Bug Hotel from SNL(he recognized her voice, how crazy!). Oh Sammy, I laugh every time.

Beauty Favorites

1. Black Honey by Clinique. Still obsessed. Consider this your monthly reminder that the internet was right. It’s on sale for $15 on Amazon (linked) and I just bought another one for my work purse! Don’t let the ‘black’ in the name fool you, it goes on sheer with a little hint of color.

2. Dazzle Dry nail polish. I swear this stuff is magic. I paint my nails upstairs, walk downstairs, and they’re basically dry before I even start unloading the dishwasher.

3. IGK Good Behavior Heat Protectant. It leaves my hair feeling so good, but honestly? The smell alone is worth buying. It smells exactly like you just walked out of a salon.

4. Face Glitter. This stuff actually stays on, and then comes off with water! Frankie got this kit for her birthday and wears it all the time, it’s the only glitter I’ll allow lol. Also, every friends whose come over mom has asked me for the link!

Good Things I've Been Eating

1. Ian’s Pizza. Specifically the mac and cheese pizza... which inspired me to recreate it at home and it’s soooo good you guys!

2. Burger King. I don’t know what’s happening, but Sam and I grabbed burgers one day and both looked at each other like... Wait... why is this actually so good?

3. Starbucks. Have you ever gotten 4 kids custom Frappuccinos with custom add ons (toasted coconut flakes with dragon fruit powder lol) and a cakepop promised during a moment of weakness … I am now broke.

4. La Colombe Vanilla Draft Latte. This is the at-home coffee I’ve been reaching for over and over again. It’s creamy, frothy, and tastes like a coffee shop treat. Pro tip: buy it from Costco or directly from La Colombe—it gets expensive at other stores.

Little Moments

• The Alex Warren concert. I’m honestly not much of a concert person, so I don’t know why I wanted to go so bad, but Nick and I had the best time. It reminded me how fun it is to do something different together.

• Driving by the lake with Nick. This sounds so simple, but it’s one of my favorite traditions. We used to drive around while we were dating, and during COVID we’d grab pizza and park by the lake. We still do it sometimes, and it never gets old. Our city is so pretty

Family Favorites

Nick’s picks

• TUMS Chewy Gas Relief. If you ask Nick, everyone should have these in their car. They help with reflux, bloating, and gas, and he swears by them.

The kids are loving

• Frankie loved her bathing suit so much she had me order it in a bigger size for next year! AND it’s on sale! Done! It’s full coverage on the booty, rare for girls swim suits surprisingly.

• Bracelet-making kits. Nothing makes me happier than when they proudly hand me another bracelet they’ve made.

• Gorilla Glue Brush & Nozzle. This one’s technically my favorite, but the kids benefit from it! I keep it in a kitchen drawer because I’m constantly gluing toys, ornaments, or random treasures back together. It makes me feel like Super Mom every time I save another toy.

Most purchased item: Ok I have to share this- last month I shared this lovely dress from…wait for it…Lands End! The silhouette is seriously gorgeous and so flattering, 6 of you purchased it!! That’s amazing!

THIS MONTH’s #1 most clicked items from my Love Lists are these hair ties that double as a bracelet - whenever I’m wearing my hair up this is what I’m wearing! I even got Frankie one and she loves it and gets compliments! Makes me feel a little extra put together

I'd love to hear your July favorites! Hit reply and tell me one thing you've been loving lately—I always end up finding my next obsession from your recommendations!!

Last week, I spent a few days in the Wisconsin Dells with my family and in-laws, and it was such a lovely little getaway. Everyone at work was so respectful of my time off, which I really appreciated—but of course, the work doesn’t disappear while you’re gone. I’m still unpacking, working through mountains of laundry, and catching up on all the things that seem to pile up, especially with the blog, where the to-do list can sometimes feel endless.

Thankfully, this week’s theme is an easy and delicious one: zucchini galore! I love shredding zucchini and mixing it into ground beef—my kids never even notice—or turning it into zucchini waffles. Whether your garden is overflowing or you just grabbed a few at the store, I’m sharing plenty of simple ways to put zucchini to good use.

1. Burritos with beef and zucchini

2. Green sheet pan potatoes with chicken sausage and zucchini

3. Chickpea and zucchini burgers

4. Zucchini cheddar bread

5. Zucchini waffles

6. Turkey meatballs with zucchini in a slow cooker

7. Skinny zucchini turkey burgers on bagel thins

8. Zucchini au Gratin

Fun little trip to the Dells (if you ever want to talk about where to go or things to do, just message me!)

And when we got back, I got to meet THE in person (who is absolutely lovely) I would like to point out it was like 100 degrees and the restaurants air seemly wasn’t working and had weird lighting, hope the joy comes through on the pic lol!! Also, Nick and I got to see Zach (Taylors husband), my oldest friend (from 1st grade) and we saw his band The Dustbowl Revival at the West Bend Theater which was fantastic (both band - amazing, and theater - great AC and pretty/comfy)
