after the 2026 reimagining of ‘carrie’, it really put into perspective how similar & different carrie & chris are.

carrie:

a young, hopeful teenager trying to fit in.

a parent that cares too much about things & controls her.

kind, wants to make friends & breaks at the last second.

chris:

a young, cruel teenager trying to fit in.

a parent that cares too little & does not practice discipline.

mean, wants to have friends & makes everything an act of revenge.

two sides to the same coin.

i think these two girls show how people react to trauma, hate and sadness. one practices kindness and love no matter what happens to her and the other uses every bad thing in her life to simply act like a bitch.

& what is so sad about these two girls is that they could have actually been friends, learnt things from each other and have an understanding of each-others feelings.

but hurt people, hurt people & it is up to us everyday to make decisions on whether we give in to hurting others.

even their names both beginning with ‘c’ has always stood out to me & (spoiler) in the originals, they both die. it is tragic & messy but also made sense. did you watch the new series?

late last night, as i watched ‘mr peabody & sherman’ i noticed how marie antoinette was enjoying her large house, food and cake & beautiful dresses to the maximum of her ability whilst the people of the country were starving. the anger that they had once they saw how marie had access to all thew things they didn’t but should (even though it was a comedy cartoon movie) was scary and honestly, relatable. bizarrely, kylie jenner popped into my mind- her videos on her page of her huge house, designer handbags in a room purely for a bag closet and platters of food made by personal chefs as the comment section is merely filled with silly but factual comments of “kylie girl, we can’t even afford grapes”.

to put it simply, it got me thinking how differently times are now. what if kylie was marie and marie was kylie. we talk so bitterly about marie antoinette who was a woman in some kind of power back in a time where they were seen as baby makers from the age of 18 years old. of course kylie gets hate comments but she does not get the guillotine. i am not denying how the people of france were treated/starving was right, my point is how there are so many poor, starving people right now all over the world right this second in comparison to people such as kylie jenner & of course, other celebrities. on my own ‘for you pages’, i see a lot of ‘hunger games’ comparisons. how the majority of us work hard for nothing, cannot work, have no money, no good clothes which again, compares to the odd few who have everything we want- and we do envy them for it.

‘privilege: a privilege is a special right, advantage or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group.’ in this case, the “group” would be celebrities and historical figures. in the more recent years, a film by sofia coppola entitled ‘marie antoinette’ (2006) has blown up in the media. within the movie, marie, who is portrayed by kirsten dunst, made her own “village”where she would tend to animals and live quietly, almost role playing a simple life as a form of escapism from the palace life. whilst this is a true fact & not just made for the movie, naturally some people would see this as offensive (now and back then) as the actual”simple life” people were dying of starvation or sickness. in comparison, nowadays celebrities will work at hospitality jobs for a day or role play working class at places like shops, malls, ‘starbucks’ & more for fun- to put it plainly, because they can. these ‘work days’ usually end up being a promotional stunt for a brand or social media.

i think that the comparison of how marie antoinette was and how celebrities are now is quite similar and impactful. even events such as the ‘met gala’ where celebrities dress up every year whilst the “commoners” of new york city watch from outside. what do you think about this comparison? please let me know in the comments.

this whole experience was exciting but also nerve wracking. stepping into this world where almost all of my young peers and classmates were confident and comfortable. being explained what a ‘streak’ was had really made me curious about why we feel the need to send a picture of almost nothing everyday just to see a number next to a name.

naturally i did it, i joined in and would send a picture to people i wouldn’t even speak to in person. waking up and snapping a picture which was sent to over 50 people sometimes with the panic of losing the streak that could not be restored. quickly enough, almost everybody from my school year was available to me on a quick tap of my phone.

in early 2025, at the ripe age of 22 years old, i started to get anxiety and really “icky” about the fact that random people can add me or want to text me with no purpose other than a blank picture of an ugly wall or their jawline. i barely spoke to anyone anymore as the natural process of growing up hit me and my old ‘friends’ turned out to be fake (cutting them off was wonderful.)

i made the decision to download/ save any pictures or videos that i really cared about but proceeded to delete my snapchat account for good- & my goodness, the relief. personally, i felt like i outgrew the app. it felt too young and immature since anybody i liked enough could text my number which feels much more personal and connective.

after this, i also detoxed my private instagram account of people i follow more people following me. pretty sure i went from over 500 followers to now 50. blocking and removing truly made me feel happy to not care about how people viewed me anymore unlike my 14 year old self.

at the end of the day, it’s my social media, i am in control. alongside this, i also deleted my ‘tiktok’ account which has recently returned but purely for promotion of my substack, research and aesthetic videos which also promote my vibe/ work. this account does not have my name linked to it and i have blocked anybody that may cause me anxiety, sadness or uncomfortable feelings.

please do not take this as a criticism if you still use snapchat over the age of 18, just personally, it is not for me and my personal developed frontal lobe has said “no thank you” since it knows what it wants now. it just gives me the ick (cringe i know) but god forbid a girl just wants genuine people knowing her life or having the privilege to contact her. so what does a current 13 year old girl think about the app? how does she use it and what are the kids up to these days?

when asking my younger sister (who is nine years younger than me) what she thinks about the app ‘snapchat’, i honestly felt curious to whether or not they see it now like we did back then. as a young girl, this app to me felt addictive. i loved to show off and have people look at my story and feel jealous as to what i was doing because that is how i felt watching theirs. the thrill of the group chats and being added to one. the customisation and personalisation of changing names and adding emojis depending on who was my best friend that week or even how i want to style my ‘mini me’ for my profile. is it all the same feelings?

having a blunt younger sister is the best (sarcasm.) it’s like trying to get your crush to talk to you but luckily, my sister eventually gave in after her initial quit response of “I just text people.” she goes on to say how snapchat is her main form of co munition with her friends and peers which again, is exactly how it used to be for me. family? no. but friends, weird pictures and stories? absolutely.

whilst she explains how she personally does not post main stories on snapchat, other people she knows do. day to day updates, silly pictures, mirror selfies i am sure. apparently snapchat group chats have streak too now? sorry that i am not up to date. it is a common theme that most pictures taken on these teenagers phones are taken om snapchat rather than their actual camera too.

overall, the whole concept and usage appears to be the same. click, send, receive and update. do you have snapchat? let me know.

orpheus & eurydice, one of the most popular and well known love stories/ couples of all time. so popular that it has been used within the media often, even becoming a well loved musical, ‘hadestown’.

set in the time of greek mythology, this young couple were wed and tragically, eurydice passed away by the bite of a snake. after her death, her partner orpheus, adventured to the underworld to get her back. they only rule to get her back to the real world was to let her walk behind him and to not look back.

it’s not that hard is it? to not turn around to look at someone when that is the one instruction & one rule you were given? seems easy until it’s happening to you, with the love & light of your light struggling on behind you, depending on you. he turned around but not out of selfishness or even impatience, it was because he loved her.

he loved her so much that he couldn’t wait to see her, to check on her, to hold and care for her. he loved her so much that he went to the underworld in the first place. and she died, (twice) knowing he loved her & he truly would have done anything for her.

whilst tragic & saddening, this story is also beautifully brutal. romeo & juliet? what about orpheus & eurydice?

as i write this, i have been using tarot in my own personal readings for about half a year and i grow more curious about this world of work often, wanting to do it more, reading, writing and even creating my own tarot books in journals alongside purchasing new decks as a hopeful baby ‘glamour witch’.

in this article, i will be discussing a brief history of the tarot, arcana, advice, lessons and more from research on both the internet and dedicated tarot users on social media such as ‘tiktok’. please feel free to click the links incorporated in this article which are other ‘witchy’ inspired posts by me on my page.

according to the ‘victoria and albert museum’ via google, tarot has been traced back to egypt, india (elusive origin) and china & korea during the early 12th century when paper was being made whilst then going on into the 15th century when it entered europe as a game for “cross-cultural” exchange between people including traders or merchants. during the 18th century, the tarot cards went on to be used for fortune telling when ‘jean-baptiste alliette’ created the first ever deck made specifically for divination.

a deck of tarot cards is made up on 78 cards total & if the ‘major arcana’ cards in a tarot deck were in a movie, they would be seen as the “main characters”, twists, big life lessons and drama. there are 22 major arcana cards total and they include the following:

‘the fool’, ‘the magician’, the high priestess’, the empress’, ‘the emperor’, ‘the hierophant’, ‘the lovers’, ‘the chariot’, ‘strength’, ‘the hermit’, ‘wheel of fortune’, ‘justice’, ‘the hanged man’, ‘the devil’, ‘the tower’, ‘the star’, ‘the moon’, ‘the sun’, ‘judgement’ and ‘the world’.

the 13th card being the ‘death’ card, rather than representing actual death, is means and indicates things in your life coming to an end.

these tarot cards highlight bigger themes compared to general day to day things that the ‘minor arcana’ (56 cards) may demonstrate.

‘minor arcana’ cards are split into four groups, swords, wands, cups and pentacles which may include some of the following cards:

‘queen of swords’, ‘ace of wands’, ‘ten of cups’, ‘knight of pentacles’.

the minor arcana cards usually highlight day to day events, feelings, events or situations including things you need to do or things you need to take into consideration to get to your goal. overcoming obstacles, fears and the lessons you need to learn. they direct you, they do not order.

although there are 56 cards within the minor arcana category, they are split into their own individual groups which are made up of 14 cards. therefore, 14 cups, 14 wands, 14 pentacles and 14 swords.

according to ‘the tarot guide’ website via google, minor arcana groups also correspond to an element (fire, air, water, earth) and a “domain of life”. for example:

• swords- air. communicating, intellect, thoughts, mind, conflict.

• wands- fire. energy, moving, actions, passion.

• cups- water. emotions, relationships, love, intuition.

• pentacles- earth. work, physical world, money, finances, possessions.

there are so many ways to use tarot in spreads and most o them i find via social media apps such as ‘pinterest’ or content creators. from ‘pet spreads’ to ‘fun friends spreads’, the list is undoubtedly long, however, for this section i will be focussing on the core spreads/ beginner friendly.

make sure you find a tarot deck that matches who you are through favourite colours, styles, images, diy, you name it! there are so many out there for you to connect with.

word of advice- personally, i try not to think about there cards as an accurate representation of the future but rather advice or support to show what has happened, what i can do right now and how this will help me work or manifest the great future. do not fear the cards, they are not scary and if you are given a deck that comes with a guidance book then you are more than likely to see this same advice.

leave your deck on a window and you can use incense or vibration frequencies during your readings. try and let the tarot deck gain some information about you, your energy and aura before you use it by sleeping close to it for a few days. tap your deck three times to activate it and ask clear questions in your head or out loud based on your spread.

if you struggle with shuffling, i usually close my eyes and “shuffle” my cards before spreading them all out in-front of me. i repeat my questions in my head for each card i pull, example, for my past card i will repeat “show me my past, what have i been through, who was i before.”

choose your card by hovering you hand over and feeling out when you wish to stop. pick up the card and LEAVE it upside down if it is as this is seen as a ‘reverse card’.

have patience and learn as you go. become confident with your first deck to pass on the knowledge to the next.

there are so many types of readings and spreads you can do. i recommend sticking and practicing with ‘3 card readings’ for a while until you feel confident enough to understand what you are doing. another bit of advice from me is that you are allowed to ask the tarot questions but not understand what they are trying to say so you stop. start again when you feel more aligned or ready for the cards or if you feel like the cards do not make sense then that is okay! you are a baby in this wide field.

Fantasy. Romance. Adventure.

(Very rough, not perfect, just a practice. Please be kind and aware! There are probably errors, grammar mistakes and lots to be changed.)

Chapter one :

Time is a trickster. She makes you believe that you have forever, yet nothing all at once. She drags you, stops you, mimics you and worst of all, makes you care for her. Let’s go back to a moment of happiness, help & heart. To a moment that I knew not of what I know now. My name is Lunas & I am Prince of Haven Harbour. Haven Harbour is a hidden Kingdom in the Light Realm. It has clouds on the ground and buildings in the sky. The tallest of trees grew all year and every flower on the trees represented a person who lived in our Kingdom. The sky is lit bright whether it is night or day and our home is protected by an enchantment in which only people who live there can enter and exit by magic. 

The name Lunas means ‘moon’ which is quite charming since my whole family is named after something in the sky. There is me, Lunas. I’m uniquely tall if I do say so myself, and my hair is coarse & dark as the black night with hints of golden streaks which glisten in light. 

Up next, my sister, Luna, whose hair is white as snow and uniquely long that it reached the back of her fragile knees. Basically the complete opposite of mine if you couldn’t tell. Her warm cheeks freckled with tiny stars and rosy red like a drop of blood. Her favourite colour to wear is daylight blue & she always wears a moon necklace around her neck, which also matches the one that I have on my wrist. 

My mother, Astra, who has skin kissed by the sun, long golden locks tied tightly up in braids above her structured face, a mouth which always has a slight smirk to gaze upon & a style extravagant enough to put anyone in a pause as she entered the room. 

Then finally, my father, King Orbit of Haven Harbour. He wears silver armour which allows him to be prepared for anything that could come our way. I suppose he is nervous like that. His skin is black & his physique stands proudly, though he is smaller than I. Confidence and power within a muscular frame. Our family was extraordinary and liked by all who met us. As a family, we each understood the responsibilities of protecting our people. Especially from Star stealers.

Star steelers are winged creatures who feast on stars. With the face of a panther, body of a horse with rough grey hooves and wings of a fallen angel in the shade of a raven. If all of the stars are stolen, my family would perish a painful death along with the people of Haven Harbour who would no longer be protected. 

My family & I come from a long line of rulers who were descended from the stars. Our blood is filled with their magic and power which manifests itself into unique physicality & quirks. Within our Kingdom and Palace we have the Tickers. They are our most trusted helpers and advisors. You could say that they are in charge if we aren’t. Tickers are the most extraordinary beings who can watch over the past, present & future. However, the downside to this is that they cannot tell us what they see as it may change fate or outcomes, therefore, the Tickers can only help us prepare with hints or suggestions. We are very lucky since nothing bad has ever happened and we take a lot of pride in that.

The Tickers are made up of Chime who takes care of the past. He has a plump physique and skin in a shade of tree bark brown. His eyes are always tired but his voice is deep and warm. Up next is Clock. She has dark hair cut to her ear lobes and wide blue eyes full of eagerness & curiosity. She looks after the Present & likes everything to be done how she likes it, very bossy yet equally admirable. Finally, Time, my best friend. She looks after the future. Her physique is small, petite & her hair always smells of wood. It’s a light honey blonde that darkens at night, her eyes are as grey as a rain cloud and her oval face holds a beauty mark right at the edge of her pale lips. Time & I have a plan to become companions one day through our work and to take care of this wanderlust place that we call home, together. With me as King of Haven Harbour and Time as my right hand woman, what could possibly go wrong? I suppose I did not consider how the future is tricky since it can change based on our current actions that we make in our present lives. 

“Lunas! Are you prepared for the World Waltz tomorrow evening?” shouted Time eagerly with far too much excitement to comprehend. “As ready as I’ll ever be” replied Lunas with a subtle yet awkward smile on his flushed face. The World Waltz is a ball that occurs every year to celebrate all that has happened within our world. We dance, discuss, eat & enjoy an evening of entertainment and community. 

The World Waltz is also an opportunity for the people of Haven Harbour to share any feedback or suggestions for us to work on in the next year. This way, they feel that they are being heard and the Royal family can continue developing their home to the best of its ability. “So, what are you wearing? I myself am going to be in my very best dress made from star dust” said Time, who almost seemed horrified by the thought of how much the dress cost. “You’ll have to see, my friend. You’ll see”.

As light awoke and creeped through his window, Lunas awoke with it. His eyes burst with excitement. His smile had never been brighter. Today was World Waltz day and he could not wait to see his beloved family dressed so finely and to witness the presence of his subjects all in one room. 

Lunas was a very curious person who had ideas and hopes for the kingdom spiraling daily. Hearing what the people thought or wanted felt like an opportunity too good to be true for someone so eager. He also could not wait to see Time who appeared to have everything planned out and was eager for this evening to begin. Prince Lunas started to get ready by bathing in cloud rain with his perfect outfit ready for him. It was made in a vivid shade of stone blue and accents of sun yellow. It almost evenly balanced a sophisticated suit and dazzling armour with swirls and constellations engraved into its metal. 

Lunas was not prepared to be utterly blown away by his family's appearances as his sister, Luna had worn a gown made from moon mesh and coloured with all the shades of the sky. Sunset orange, sun yellow, sky blue, midnight black & twinkling white.  His mother was too wearing a gown, just much larger than his sisters, layers upon layers of cloud cut material that floated as she walked. Lunas’ father, King Orbit, had worn a crown covered in gold planets and his armour drowning in eye straining bullion. Each member looked stupendous and were very keen to hear feedback from their people.

As Prince Lunas walked the halls of the Palace playing with his sleeves to straighten them before the Waltz he spotted Time. She indeed wore a dress made from star silk. ‘How ever did she afford it’? Lunas thought to himself but quickly lost the thought when he realised that he was staring at her with his mouth open slightly from confusion & awe. What a luxury to have such a beautiful dress. She did indeed look divine. 

Time spotted the charming Prince as they equally shared a look & slowly walked towards one another. “You look breathtaking, Time” stated Lunas who enjoyed the colours bouncing from her dress. Time gave a small smile but quickly picked up her posture and responded “Thank you, my lord” with a stake face and quick, confident feet. This confused Lunas as she seemed so serious saying that. He kept replaying it in his head but tried to brush it over as the Waltz started to begin.

The loved family entered the World Waltz ballroom, allowing the crowd to gasp with anticipation. Trumpets played loudly as the words “let the World Waltz commence!” echoed the halls from the mouths of the Palaces’ Galaxy guards who stood proudly in their dapper suits and holding their large silver swords. The ballroom was exquisite with stars, planets and magical creatures painted upon the ceiling filled with golden crystal chandeliers and floating wax candles. 

The walls were towering & far spread in a flavescent amber with the kind people who bowed with grace, poise and respect. It was very clear that everyone there was happy to be and all had much love for one another. 

Dancing quickly picked up across the whole floor as Prince Lunas met Time at a quiet table that he saw her stand so confidently by with her arms crossed tightly across her chest and small hands in hard fists. He was startled and taken aback, for why was she acting this way? Did he do something to offend her or maybe she knew that he was curious about the cost of the dress and took it personally. 

She wouldn’t speak with words but her eyes pierced him as he came to stand by her side, looking out to the people as they were gliding simultaneously across the open floor. A deep and hollow silence became far too loud for the young Prince yet Lunas nervously asked for her hand to dance with just the simple gesture of reaching out his large hand. Time stared at his hand with amusement but denied the offer. Maybe she was just nervous due to the amount of people that had attended the ball, but right now, she was absent in her own world. 

Lunas, himself, thought it could be seen as overwhelming but, nonetheless, he took the hint and excused himself to grab a refreshment. With a quick how of his head to the fair maiden. 

Whilst Lunas poured his liquid lake *a popular beverage in the Kingdom of Haven Harbour*, he noticed Time exit the ball room looking all around as though she was scared about someone following her. Maybe she really was nervous about the party as she was clearly so excited the past few days, it must have caught up with her and she needed some air, Lunas told himself to keep his mind from spiralling with negative thoughts and anxiety. 

The Royal family spot Lunas who held his glass to the kind souls he could call his ‘home’ with a wide smile from all, as moments passed by the liquid lake rippled in the small glass held by Lunas as his eyebrows clenched with confusion. He looked closer to see if something was inside as it just rippled again, only more sharper and aggressive. He looked up and noticed his other guests also took note of the strange vibrations and all started to seem uncomfortable with curiosity. The walls started to shake resulting in moving candles and chandeliers swaying back and forth like the wind blew string- back and forth and back and forth. 

At this time, the band had stopped one by one, each member pausing their instruments to glance at what was happening in the beautiful yet now quiet ballroom. A distant gallop hissed and could be heard getting closer & closer to the second. Guests were anxiously murmuring to themselves with shaking hands, tapping of feet and jittering bodies, when all of a sudden, chaos & screams everywhere as Star Steelers crashed through all the windows and doors breaking the glass with shards everywhere cutting & piercing through skin like a piece of a paper being torn. 

Echos of torture throughout the ball room as Lunas ran trying to cover and help as many subjects as possible. “Run for cover!” each member of the Royal family yelped and pleaded to their subjects frantically scanning the room with terror. It was at  this moment that Lunas thought of his best friend, Time. Where was she and was she okay? He had to find her as soon as possible. He had to get her to safety! 

It was as though by fate, the scared Prince focused his gaze up from previously covering his eyes from the glass. Everything slowed down around him. It was Time and she was just stood in the distance as she smirked with disgustingly horrific pleasure. Lunas was distraught by his companion & friend who had clearly gone from friend to foe as the Star Steelers used great force to injure the people of Haven Harbour whilst also attacking and stealing the stars. “How did they get here?” screamed Lunas, “they have no magic!”. 

In this moment, Lunas heard her. He heard Time who said the worst possible thing he could have thought of. She proudly and mockingly screamed across the ballroom, “I brought them here. I used my magic” as Time used intricate hand movements of dark magic to control the beasts to stand with her in front of the terrified crowd who also stood together. She shouted at the Star steelers and they would always obey.

“Did you really think I’d give up the chance to take you all down?” asked Time wickedly. Lunas took a step forward to his friend as her eyes changed to pure black. Was this a possession he wondered still scared for her safety. “Time, I don’t understand” as she laughed cruelly at her old friend who’s skin turned unhealthily pale. 

Time took a deep breath and also stepped forward towards the Prince. “You really don’t get it do you?” she cried as staring into his eyes with disgust. She took one more step, this time with more power and confidence than ever before. “I can see the future, Lunas, we know this. And I could see you with a girl.” Before she continued, she looked down to the ground as though she was going to cry but sharply let that feeling go and proceeded. 

With the same power from that brief moment ago she continued fiercely, “I always thought it was me, like we had planned. You and I would lead together and I thought it was love. But it wasn't, was it?.” Lunas couldn’t look at her as he realised she thought it was romance. He realised in that moment that he had unintentionally broken his best friend's heart. 

“The girl I saw would lead with you on the throne and if it’s not me, then it won’t be anyone.” The crowd murmured and whispered, filling the once happy ballroom with noise again before snapping back to quietness out of fear and sadness. 

“See, I knew the Star Steelers wanted to attack this Kingdom” said the mysterious girl, “so I went to seek them. I ended up finding their leader and made him a deal, though it wasn’t really a deal when he got nothing from it because he gave me the Steelers & I slit his throat.” This was th moment, the moment that Lunas truly understood that his friend was gone and she was not coming back.

“The Star Steelers belong to me now and they will take you and your precious family down.” The whole room gasped in terror and the Royal Family all looked at one another as though they knew it might be the last ever moment. 

Time demanded the Star Steelers finish what they started and in a horrifying scene, more stars were taken. People were crushed and all nature was dying simultaneously, slowly and painfully. The more stars that were taken, the weaker the family became alongside the people of Haven Harbour being slaughtered, trampled upon and left for dead.

Time watched, amusing the horror with a smug smile on her face as the Prince attempted to fight back yet it was far too late as Time and the Star Steelers became too strong. Her powers once belonged to another man, the original Star Steelers leader, Galileo Puck. 

Galileo was feared for dark magic and mind control of creatures in all Realms. When Time executed him, his powers were absorbed upon her. “You really think you can hurt me little Prince?” she said sarcastically as she lifted her once friend into the air and threw him against the tall walls of the ballroom.

 Lunas hit his head causing him to horrifically blackout and the screams of the people slowly faded away as his head bled slightly onto the cold marbled floor. The Star Steelers won and had managed to execute all the people of Haven Harbour and steal all the stars, except one which was hidden by a small cloud in the night. This was something that Time did not see in her visions which she would later regret. She had left on the back of a Steeler with her dress flowing in the wind above as she left Prince Lunas and all of his people to suffer as if they were nothing. 

Lunas painfully awoke from his injury. His eyes were groggy and blurred. He pushed them using his hands to clear his vision as he then noticed the blood on his palms. It was a bright, vivid red. He had never seen blood before. He placed his numb fingers on his forehead and strained in a painful gasp. His vision was soon clear and his mind snapped back into the reality of the attack that had just commenced that previous night.

Lunas was mortified to look around the ballroom of horror which was once filled with joy, now turned pain. He saw all of his subjects laid across the room, glass everywhere and blood spilled from person to person. Since the stars were stolen, all of the Princes’ family was dead. His heart was pounding and his throat filled with this burning sensation from holding back the tears as he held his family in his arms. “I love you all” he gently whispered to himself as a soft tear shed down his frozen cheek. Lunas had wished he was also dead to no longer feel this intense pain of fear and loss but his star was the only one not stolen and he knew that this was no accident, it was destiny. This cannot happen again he thought with an urge of power and revenge as he quickly picked himself up from the agony and got to work.

Lunas dug a grave for every person in Haven Harbour. He wanted them to have a proper send off to wherever their souls would go next. Being left for dead in that room was a disrespectful thing to do and as these people were still his subjects, whether alive or dead. As he dug and buried the victims of the attack, alongside his beloved family, he thought to himself that he would stop Time from pursuing her plans and make his Kingdom proud so that no other Kingdom experiences this kind of tragedy. But there was just one problem, he had to find her.

Lunas rushed back to his bed chambers where he managed to pack a bag of some simple clothes, a sword that his late father once gave him, some food and water for what seemed like a long journey ahead of him. The sword was large and engraved with a tree that symbolised the trees that blooms a flower for each person within his home. It was beautiful but he had never had to use it before. He also managed to find some books in the old Lunalunas Library (named after himself and his sister, Luna) which was once filled with exquisite greenery and warm light but now, dead, rotten and dull due to the attack of Time.

These books had history on magic, both light and dark. He also found a map which looked used, dusty and torn. The young Prince often fell asleep in his Geography classes but they appeared to be the other four realms. One of which, the Kingdom of Galian which was where Galileo Puck once resigned. In this moment, Lunas thought that Time must be there before taking a large deep breath of anxiety. The Prince had a plan, and this plan had three key goals. One: to find Time, two:  claim back the stars of Haven Harbour & three: to kill her. 

As Lunas approached his Kingdoms’ gates with the map of the Realms tight in his grip, he looked back to his home with a glimmer of hope trailing his thoughts. He thought of his family and his people. He thought of how lucky he was to have such a beautiful life which he now needed to get back. The map confused him at first, he was a great fighter but not the best with much else since he never left home before. He never needed to. But this was his opportunity to truly do something good and to do something that would make not only his family proud, but himself too. The first location was to the East, “Pet-al-li-an” he read like a child learning to read. “The Realm of the Pixies” he chuckled to himself thinking about tiny people with little wings as he placed one foot in front of the other and headed on his way. 

in some ways, i like to think of myself as a modern “baby witch”- a person just starting out on spirituality, manifestation etc etc… there are other witches/ spiritual people that are far more qualified and experienced than i am but we all want the same thing which is usually positive feelings and ways to release not-so-positive feelings, calmness, dreams coming true and for those who have done us wrong to have the karma that they deserve (respectfully so.) in this article, i will be discussing witchcraft, ways i do it, ways you can do it, accounts i recommend for your journeys & more.

when you think of witchcraft, naturally, you may think of pointy hats, cackling laughs, evil spells and broomsticks, where in fact and actuality, its manifestation, friendship, using natural elements to create “potions” and having a positive outlook on who you are, especially in womanhood. in history, women (children and men) have been accused of witchcraft and working side by side with the devil, satan, to make unholy deeds come true. one of the most famous parts of history involves ‘the salem witch trials’ of 1692 which ultimately led to 25 deaths and more than 200 accused.

i have always been a fantasy kind of girl- witches, wizards, magic, princesses, you name it. as a theatre kid, i also starred in a local production of ‘the crucible’ by ‘Arthur miller’ which was based on the witch trials in salem back in 1692 where i played ‘susanna walcott’.

for years since, i have been interested in crystals, the moon, tarot cards/ readings but never actual took any action, just mere google searches on how to do things without actually doing anything.

that was until january 2026 where i received my first tarot card set and since then i do regular readings for myself, family and friends whilst also still wanting to collect more jewellery, crystals and “witchy things” in which i hope will help me feel closer to myself as a person.

• journal. i adore journaling and guilty as charged, i mainly journal when i’m sad but highly recommend, especially if you have two journals, one for general day to day and the other is more whimsical, made for doodles, tarot readings or anything you thunk is witchy. of course you can just have one but it just feels more fun and dramatic to me.

• tarot. so fun and interesting. i have written an article discussing tarot and why i do it. it is important, if you get into it, to remember that they are not there to tell you the future but rather give you advice or things to take into consideration to get to where you want to be. buy a tarot set that is meant for beginners as they usually come with a little book explaining the history, ways to do it and to nit fear the “scary named cards” as they usually man positive things. for example, the card ‘death’ does not mean literal death but rather the end to something like a jib, relation ship or period in your life.

• crystals. this is some thing i want to get more into myself as it honestly seems easy to understand and incorporate into everyday life (especially with jewellery or keeping them lose in your bag which is so chic) but i think i struggle with wanting to spend money on a crystal that isn’t real or spending too much. pease send me links.

• playlists. make a playlist for walking under the moon or journaling or manifesting. i personally have a manifesting playlist which is full of romcom songs as i want to manifest a romcom life, another playlist for general manifestation of good things that are meant to happen to me if i remain kind and work hard and finally, a tarot playlist full of vibration tunes as i do my readings.

  

• oh my gosh, angel numbers ! had to re-edit because how could i forget! my favourite thing ever, they have shown up for me so many times and even told me things that came true or were actually happening. 11:11, 111, 14:41, 14:14, anything. please google whenever you see them to see what they mean and specify if you want to know about love, job, personal, etc.

• romanticise simple things like the moon or writing. take pictures of the moon, embrace her and her beauty. think about what you are doing and how it is spiritual. light some candles. use the candles to do spells. make sure you properly research how.

• understand your intuition, embrace it and download apps that can help you on your journey. i personally use ‘co-star’ which asks you to give your proper time of birth for a full astrological chart and daily notes which give you advice or thoughts. do and don’t. you can add widgets to your phone and laptop and it sends you messages that your new daily note is ready.

• appreciate the weather, especially rain. there is something so fun and almost eerie about rain but it can be used symbolically to wash away things. actually, try and appreciate all weather but its okay to have a favourite.

the way he acts in the video is as though getting a new job is easy at the moment, & yes, for some lucky people, this may be the case but as an example, i lost my job almost 2 months ago & every day since i found out the business was closing i have been applying.

i am qualified in teaching and i have worked hospitality since i was 17 yet nowhere is hiring or if they are, they are saying no to me. i have not stopped applying or emailing companies or going around businesses handing out my CV. i have had one interview and they denied me because i cost more than the other workers. this lady hopefully is doing the same.

personally, i think its funny when james calls out this girl for losing her job along with many many others but when tik tok is being banned he is crying on the internet calling it “dystopian” or that “this fucking sucks” is ridiculous.

james saying “welcome to the real world” in this new video when he has been an online influencer for years is an insane comment to make. i am not denying that he hasn’t worked hard as we all know of him, his products, videos and more but saying something as obnoxious as that when he isn’t truly in the real world is crazy.

over the past few years i have grown into my woman body and with that, breasts have grown. i actually like my breasts, they make me feel many things- sexy, pain, confidence, heaviness, and i get it, it is so natural to see a person with these body parts and think “damn those are some nice boobs”- i do it, they are glorious things & sometimes catch your eyes before anything else.

i truly do not think we should be shamed for it, especially when a beautiful human posts a video wearing something so wonderful and sexy which sculpts their natural bodies so perfectly & all the comments are funny or cute saying silly things such as “they looked at me first.”

however, it can become uncomfortable, especially when you speak to a man and he may quickly glance (naturally) but it becomes frequent.

i start to feel awkward in a nice top i felt cute in. i start to zip up a jacket or use my hands more to distract. so yes, i am sorry if my tits distract you but you can admire yet be respectful simultaneously.

rachel zegler has been singing, performing and uploading videos online almost her whole life. with covers of songs and blogs of her school musicals, she quickly got more views with comments flooding in with nothing but positive things to say about her kindness, talent and passion. this was until she was actually in the public eye- movie sets, paparazzi, red carpets and admittedly, a little obnoxious from time to time which went on to increase this ‘hate’.

she has since been cast in ‘west side story’ (2021), ‘the hunger games: the ballad of songbirds & snakes’ (2023), ‘shazam! fury of the gods’ (2023), ‘y2k’ (2024), ‘Snow White’ (2025) and more including the upcoming ‘octet’ movie by lin-manuel miranda and ‘evita’ the musical on the west end & broadway.

(quick note: i do agree with her views on the original ‘snow white’ in some ways & how the original tale of ’snow white’ was quite scary with it’s animation style and also the story it itself is inappropriate as the original princess has been confirmed to be 14 with this older prince.)

there is no denying zegler’s talent and she seems like such a sweetheart who has had ‘media training’, however, the amount of comments i see mocking her looks, work and voice is gobsmacking, especially when rachel does not decide what she is cast in & can only do the best she can with what she is given. This goes on to stem where the “woke” comments are made as rachel is latina who was cast to play the character who was “white as snow.”

another actor i love & has also said some controversial things about a movie they stared in (twilight) was ‘robert pattinson’ yet he was praised, adored and respected in comparison to when rachel spoke about the 1937 animated movie ‘snow white’ after being cast in disney’s live action. this is a prime example of how some people saying certain things are seen as brave or becomes a “someone had to say it” moment whilst others are hit hard with hateful comments which are damaging.

you are talented until you’re in the public eye and that is when everyone has something to say about you. sometimes this hate feels like the kind that will fade away and in a few years, this young actress will be looked back on & called “iconic” for her voice, looks, acting and red carpet moments. what do you think?

‘galinda/ glinda the good’ from the musical ‘wicked’ has been my favourite character within media for years. i have always understood her, sympathised with her & noticed her layers and complexity so when the movies were being filmed or even released i was very shocked by how many people misunderstood her and who she is.

if you left the movies or show thinking she was the “bad witch”, you truly did not understand her character or even the entire plot of ‘wicked’.

to an outsider, she is spoilt, beautiful, popular and a little mean. she is surrounded by people who expect perfection and expect her to be perfect. she is surrounded by other bullies who naturally (but unfortunately) may influence you to also see things a certain way or how to act.

inexcusable but understandable, especially considering how quickly galinda changed her mind on how she sees the other lead female ‘elphaba’- a green girl with natural magic abilities which admittedly, galinda is jealous of at first, yet, elphaba is just as jealous of galinda. these female characters are two sides to the same coin.

“as long as everyone loves you, you’ll be okay” is something that her character has been told and pushed upon since a child (thanks to the movies for allowing us to see this part to her) & this is actually quite upsetting as a viewer since we see that all she really wanted was to be magical yet all elphaba wanted was to be loved. each woman got what she wanted in the end but with a price.

to me, every character in the ‘wicked’ story is “wicked”. they make choices and deal with consequences, life and even loss.

examples:

galinda/ glinda: bullies elphaba, sets up a boy with someone else so she doesn’t have to dance with him and later on stays with the ‘bad guys’ to look good to the public.

elphaba: runs off with her best friends partner and betrays her. doesn’t think before acting which results in bad things happening.

fiyero: leaves his fiancé for her best friend & threatens to kill her.

boq: dates a girl because the one he actually wants doesn’t like him, stays with her for years out of spite.

nessa rose: makes her partner a slave to keep him with her, enforces awful laws in ‘his type of people’ & uses magic to make him want her.

madame morrible: grooms a teenage girl to do as she wants and later does the same to another young girl. turns the people of oz against elphaba.

the wizard: captures animals to keep his power, lies to the public, drugs a woman to have intercourse with her. etc etc.

each main character does something that makes you question them but is that not human too? what i love about this story is how it goes to show when we feel things, we act (sometimes too quickly or harshly) specifically with anger which is what each girl does in this tale yet glinda is the one that is seen as “bad”.

her best friend and fiancé run off together and that betrayal clearly hits her so hard that she is consumed with anger & wants elphaba captured (in that moment.) she gives the real bad guys an idea to capture her elphaba’s sister so they can get her yet this quickly turns into a blood bath that glinda did not ask for, but of course, deeply regrets.

with glinda, her choices come from the ‘want’ to be loved. she loves her best friend but unfortunately, how she is perceived does become more important to her throughout most of the story, however, by the end of the show (& movies) elphaba entrusts glinda with her magic book, pushing her to learn and become the best leader that oz can have because whilst elphaba tried to help the citizens of oz, she had no power to actually do it with words or interaction unlike glinda- a natural people person and a changed woman.

this was proven in the ‘ozdust ballroom’ after glinda and her friends set up elphaba to be mocked but ultimately feels terrible, supports her and opens up every other student to do the same. this shows us the power she has.

by the end of ‘wicked’, glinda is all alone. she finally got what she wanted but it was at a cost. she lost her best friend, her fiancé, almost all of her true friends but finally had the right mindset to become and embrace being ‘glinda the good’ and support her people who will become her family.

she feels so much but pushes it down to play a part for these people that she feels “need her”. if you want to understand this character even deeper then i recommend listening & watching interviews of ‘ariana grande’ speaking about this characters arc, redemption and complexity.

no longer do i want to watch my figs rot and no longer do i want to look back on my life & regret not taking changes, opportunities or other experiences. i think i have always been hung up on what looks good to other people and this links back to the teaching thing. yes i was good at it but i didn’t fully like it enough to feel proud in it. as a major people pleaser, this still effects me because what if i try something but end up not liking it or change my mind (again)? but it is still experience, you are still learning and expanding areas of experience. your brain may learn something new, even if it is small, so is that not a good thing?

i think i am at the point where i don’t really care if i end up changing my mind because at least i tried and that is something to be proud of. i would rather try something and change my mind than look back at my life and hate myself for not trying anything. i am so lucky to be so full of wonder and desire to try things, to learn and talk to people that it should be admirable. do you feel like this?

i do think that we truly do not know what we want until we try things and grow but also, watching other people who inspire us. for me, that is all of you. your passion for writing has helped me see that the one thing i have always enjoyed might actually be my calling and i have never been more driven to practice, attend classes, reach out to people and develop this calling. so thank you. it has also helped me see that everything i have learnt from my previous fields of work and studies was not for nothing as i take the lessons into this world of writing.

chappell roan, sabrina carpenter, ariana grande, lady gaga & more- all of these singers have their own ‘skin’ which is fun, colourful, true to the performer & actually allows players to feel cute and excited as they run around trying to win the game.

from my personal experience, males use these over-sexualised female skins to stare at body parts, make fun, mock and even masturbate to. the increase in sex games has expanded and personally i think it is disgusting & harmful to not only women but also to boys and how they see sex.

using pornography has become far too normalised at the extent it is. and this is clearly influencing the behaviour of young people in the faming world and the characters we use. most of these female characters have unrealistic body proportions in comparison to the more recent skins which are true to the singers or characters real physique. for months i was praying for ‘scooby-doo’ got collab with fortnite so i could dress up as ‘daphne’. so happy this came true.

as an instagram user, i frequently see videos of fortnite skin ideas or current skins available (specifically for women, the girls and the gays.) most responses demonstrate how we simply want “girly” skins to run around and try and beat the other players.

most concept art i have seen for skins include ‘monster high’ characters, more singers in the pop industry and even simplistic skins that wear pink or sparkles and have accessories such as hats, glasses, different hairstyles and jewellery. with the ever growing continuation of more female players, we need more skins to help us feel expressive & to show off personality.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to feel sexy (even as a character), but where i believe we should draw the line is when every female character has these big features, small waists, short skirts and a crop top so cropped it may as-well not be there. give us more choice, options, customisation, colour palettes. what do you think?games taking this advice into consideration would go on to help them gain more players as people enjoy feeling like they have control.

incorporating women creators instead of just male will help with careers and an insiders look to what real girls want to wear as they play games or what choices they have in the customisation of a skin they will go on a digital gaming journey with.

fortnite has been adding “girlier” emotes and songs to use in game modes such as ‘fortnite festival’ which also then goes on to influence real people of any gender to listen to these songs on ‘spotify’, ‘apple music’ and so on. some of these songs include ‘pink pony club’ (chappell roan), ‘manchild’ (sabrina carpenter) and ‘rain on me’ (lady gaga & ariana grande.) what has been your favourite female skin from any game?

with ‘disney’ colabing more and more with ‘epic games/ fortnite, many hope to see some of their favourite princesses, villains and even side kicks become available to buy and play as. from ‘rapunzel’ and her frying pan as a pick axe, many concepts are being thought of. so far, we have had some characters such as ‘elastigirl’, ‘mr incredible’, cruel de vil’ and so on. what disney characters do you hope to see and play as?

olivia’s new song ‘begged’ was performed (& heard) for the first time on ‘saturday night live’ alongside her newest single ‘drop dead’ & to be frank, it made me sad. not just because it is generally sad and the themes are upsetting but it was far too relatable for me.

the song starts with olivia asking her lover for reassurance that she is the only girl he loves and wants. this (to me) is already cutting deep and i am pretty sure olivia stole my journal so i should email her to claim ownership.

it goes on to discuss how she may dismiss mistakes that her partner has made, forgive him for making bad choices, trying to accept that he is learning and being patient as she takes all the small moments of joy that she can instead of being consumed by loneliness, insecurity and fear of the relationship failing. or was it just me getting that vibe?

this song is beautiful and compared to her prior “sad songs” it probably is my favourite (so far) just from this live performance whilst i believe the studio version will have more layers of vocals etc.

what i have noticed and discussed from her new album so far is how she seems so happy and “in love” on the cover of ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ but she is literally upside down so is this a metaphor for pretending everything is fine? of course that links too well with the album name which i truly cannot get started on because when i heard it, i felt attacked.

i believed the song ‘drop dead’ was initially a breakup song when i first saw the title and read the lyrics she had teased in social media but of course, i was so wrong. as i was expecting ‘good 4 u’ vibes and tune, we actually get what sounds like ‘wolf alice’.

i came up with a theory that the songs with titles that may sound angry or sad might actually be the happiest and the songs with happy titles would be the saddest & whilst you could argue that the word ‘begged’ is pretty sad, for all we knew it could have been about not having to beg someone to be good.

overall, clearly excited for next month & please pass the tissues.

i am sure we can all agree. it is over the top, expensive & a night for celebrities to dress up for us to watch like hawks.

two sides to one event- you either love it, love what it stands for and find it entertaining or you hate it, hate what it stands for and find it entertaining.

why do we hate it?

well it is hard watching a select amount of people be able to go to events such as this and to toast drinks and eat food whilst others may not have a job or money or even a home. of course you can argue that “normal” people are like this too and homelessness and poverty exist either way (with or without these famous people.)

there are some questionable participations from some celebs which may cause anger too such as this year & the controversy surrounding jeff bezos who reportedly gave $10 million towards this years met gala.

why do we love it?

it is fun, campy, it’s a chance for us to see some of our favourite artists, actors & performers to get an assignment and pull it off. we sit at home watching, reviewing, critiquing and it is amusing & entertaining for us.

some of us might appreciate the work and talent of the fashion designers, sewers, makeup artists, stylists, event workers, car drivers, hotel staff and more, for without them, it would not work.

and at the end of the day, they are earning money doing something they love and something that they are good at. it also raises money for the metropolitan museum costume institute.

all in all, the met has its complexities & its qualities but no matter what side you are you, hate or love, you are entertained.

as a romcom girly who is obsessed with clothes, magazines and all things feminine, when i watch some of my favourite movies and there is ‘makeover’ i have noticed that the makeover barely changes the girl. yes she may lose her glasses or straighten her hair but she still has those things- just not all the time and instead, she gains a lot for herself.

to me, the romcom makeovers barely do anything to the girls other than show them to express themselves, try something new and to be confident as f**k in their own skin. to use what beauty they have and enhance it. experimenting can be fun and enjoying to dress up or do something different isn’t a crime as you re still you but extended and adapted.

from ‘the princess diaries’ to ‘clueless’, ‘ugly betty’ and even ‘the devil wears prada’- each of these sources of media have a “makeover” scene which in actuality just makes the leading lady feel way more confident in who she is as an individual and how she wants the world to see her. expressing ourselves through fashion, makeup, hobbies, it is all performative but that is the fun of it and we all do this in our own lives day to day through picking up on new styles, activities, brands and more.

these female characters go through a change that signifies how they are growing as a person or coming in to their womanhood by inflicting positive self worth and confidence. they learn more about theirselves, their brains keep getting fuller and fuller of knowledge & experiences but their outsides go on to reflect this inner beauty. standing up to bullies and meeting new friends, making mistakes & learning from them- that is all apart of the “romcom makeover”, not just the glasses being taken off and the lipgloss being applied.

their “before” versions are just as worthy and just as beautiful, & we know this as an audience, however, it is so fun and exciting to witness these people embrace confidence as it then goes on to allow us to feel the same as media is so impactful and influential, especially in movies and television.

what is the met gala?

the met gala (established in 1948 by eleanor lambert) takes place on the first monday of every may and is considered one of the “biggest nights out” in the fashion world/ industry with celebrities being invited to attend, dress up according to theme & to participate in the first look of the ‘metropolitan museum’ new exhibitions. these exhibitions are then later opened to the general public. the purpose of the met is to raise money for the museums costume institute and for celebrities to go full out in couture & gain publicity.

in this article, i will be sitting in my pyjamas at home in bed watching the live stream of the met on my laptop & reviewing each look. from what i have seen, emma chamberlain is set to interview on the carpet again for the sixth year in a row & celebrities such as sabrina carpenter, zoë kravitz, chase sui and bad bunny are set to attend thanks to anna wintour (former editor-in-chief of vogue magazine) and vogue employees selecting who will attend.

the theme of this years met gala is ‘fashion is art’ with most people expecting to see celebrities take inspiration from art work and turn it into clothing. this theme seems so campy & fun so i personally cannot wait to see the interpretations. personally, i have always taken interest in the met gala and the looks but i never knew that it was live streamed for people to see so this is my first year actually watching it and typing commentary at the same time.

the met gala is streamed at 23:00 pm for me as i am a united kingdom viewer so i hope to stay up all night (i don’t know when it ends…) but will complete the review regardless as i really want to see everyones looks and to actually see all who attend. anna wintour also hosted her ‘night before dinner party’ with guests including nicole kidman, lauren sanchez, jeff bezos, sabrina carpenter, serena williams & more which confirmed a few many attendees. going forward, please refer to me as ‘miranda priestly’, thank you.

my first look : emma chamberlain.

vogue uploaded a video of emma’s dress fitting so i obviously gave it a watch. emma’s dress was so stunning and truly felt like art to me. it was as though i watched my paint palette get wet and just blend together. emma is quite pale (just like me) and i find that sometimes a colour like bright yellow doesn’t look good on our skin but with the theme being so campy and artistic i actually like it and think it looks unique. that fact that it always looks 3d is so perfect and fabulous, not just the colours but including textures. (update: they are handprinted, wow wow wow.)

the stunning swirl detailing on her upper chest and neck is so simplistic but sticks to the theme, but i do think it could have been one shade darker to really see it. as i am watching the video, both her and her stylist are debating dyeing her hair brown but i actually think it would be cool if she kept it icy blonde and added colourful streaks that match the dress into her hair tips like the dress is consuming her.

emma’s stylist, jared, has mentioned how emma loves painting and it does look like she has really enjoyed this theme because of how creative she is. i am very curious to see how her makeup looks and whether it will be abstract mad or simplistic. absolutely love that the sleeves were slightly shortened and pulled tighter to her skin, it looks better and her skin shows which is fun and easier for her to work during the evening.

the shoesssss. they are adorable, so fun, creative, messy (in a good way) however, the only thing i didn’t like too much was how the colour abruptly stops for the strap around her ankle, i thunk either continue it into pure yellow like her dress or slowly merge from colour to plain so it is is not as harsh.

the “mini” version is so stinking cute. i think it is brilliant how it clearly sticks to the theme and is such a direct copy of her main look whilst making it easier for her to crack on with her job of interviewing whilst still looking fire. the way they punch it up to the side is so stunning. they sleeves towards the bottom of the hands could have lace or strings dangling just to add bit more of something but other than that both dresses are stunning and it is making me excited to see everyones interpretations of this theme.

absolutely praying to the lord above that emma has vlogged her own video as her youtube is my favourite thing ever and her met vlogs are so human, natural and exciting. do you watch emma and if so, do you agree?

anna wintour :

her look is very peacock and bird influenced from what i can see. the colours are beautiful with the mixed blues but i am struggling to see how it is art influenced. i suppose because anna basically runs the met gala she may want a more simplistic look but i personally think it could be elevated slightly more with even a simple lengthening of the back or a hat, maybe even blue sunglasses instead of the black for a change. i do like how the jacket goes from light blue to dark.

(after some research, she has apparently worn the exact same outfit from 2020 but just in a different colour and both are not on theme.)

ashley graham :

adore the wet slick back hair and the dress is interesting with the holes & mesh influence but the real show is the sliver nails and finger tips. why not make the dress silver too and really go for a ‘joan of arc’ esq look. Or ever silver makeup to match the shiny tips.

the bottom is stunning with the full mesh but again, the colour isn’t my favourite and i think after seeing emma’s look which is clearly art and influenced by it, i am disappointed so far by what i have seen.

i cannot see the shoes but i assume they match the dress.

sam smith:

lowkey devouring with the style & accessories but the colour (full black) feels lazy to me. this is an outfit that really could be like a peacock with the huge sleeves that he holds up with his arms and the feather on his head. maybe even black that leads into shades of pink or blue for that peacock inspiration.

not too in love with the beard, of course i don’t expect him to shave it off for the met but add jewels or colour to it so it doesn’t break the outfit apart.

necklace is huge and i love it. honestly love this look, it is just the colour.

sunday rose :

her dress is so cute and the colours are adorable. i love the flowers, it feels like a garden and the diamonds glisten to beautifully. i cannot really tell if it is a necklace or an earring but the flower by her head is so sweet.

the hair feels a little basic, maybe a low bun or a fabulous half up, half down with flowers growing out of her hair would have been iconic.

her eyeshadow colours are amazing as they obviously match the dress but make it a tad brighter or artistic with shape to really pop.

nicole kidman :

love it in general, hate it for the theme.

this might just be me but i really expected over the top, art influenced/ art interpretations and whilst she looks so hot, it isn’t giving ART. where is the patterns, crazy makeup, drawings, paint, hair styles? again, i keep thinking of emma, and that is what i was expecting.

lacking creativity so far! the red is stunning and suits her but at least do some over the top red makeup or hair.

lena situations :

devoured, didn’t just follow the theme but she became it. the statue vibes and inspiration hits & although she looks fab the breaking blue feels off. the shade suits her but either go full statue grey or add shade of the blue into the top half of her outfit so it blends.

makeup is so simple but fits the skirt perfectly, and her body is tea in this outfit.

connor & his polka dot scarf is fabulous and could easily be seen as ‘pop art’ but it stops before it can even start. update : it goes on to become a top but where is the colour and pop art influence? he could have added spots to his body!

zoë kravitz :

beautiful lace all over, again i hate the all black. the dress could be even bigger and more voluminous almost like a ballerina tutu which has been portrayed in art multiple times.

sabine getty:

absolutely exquisite! looks stunning & is in your face pure art. the hair structure is chefs kiss & the colours of the hands in the dress truly does make it feel like a renaissance painting. the one sleeve is so hot and the mesh truly makes it. i adore that the hands on the dress are hers so they perfectly match the accessories such as the ring. stunning!

naomi saka :

the huge white coat with the flowers popping off was beautiful and could have been escalated even more with more 3d flowers. the red dress is simple but looks great with the coat on top but it came off too soon and that was the ‘art’ to me.

atleast she has a flower? it’s cute, it’s simple but yet again, black.

the flower is gorgeous but could have been multiplied & the base of the dress is mesh and gorgeous. she could have added floral mesh sleeves, that could have added more than what was given because there was, of course, potential.

i love the runched upper part but what is going on with pure black? the hair is giving icon with the up do but she could have been much improved in every other aspect. even her chair could have been improved with mesh, silk, colour, something! such as beautiful girl but disappointing dress.

yes finally something artistic and fabulous! the body looks incredible and the sequin art on the front of a naked woman is so fun and unique. her hair is huge and i love it. the higher up the better because of how over the top the art is on the front. the primary colours really make it fun and it is so eye catching. good for her.

flower themed, love. the pinks suit her so well & i love the body shape of the dress. i am so happy to actually see some colour & not just black. the sparkles look so pretty but i don’t think it’s a memorable look. it does seem basic but again, happy compared to most basic divas. her hair is adorable & so fun with the flower. can we make the theme ‘absolutely no full black outfits’ next year?

he looks cute, he has some colour but again, basic. i think it would have been really cool to see suits with classic art on them such as the ‘sunflowers’ or patterned suits to art uniqueness and colour. not much to say about his look but let’s get more men with makeup art on their face.

so pretty but so boring. most of these outfits are gorgeous (don’t get me wrong) but for the theme it is so hard to watch. i was really expecting colour, fun, but nothing. her dress is so sweet but save it for something else. not much to say personally.

at-least its fun! the mask is giving ‘squid games’ but she has actually done something creative and interesting. the dress is gorg but again, basic. if she had added elements of silver to the dress it went full robot vibe it would have been interesting- especially with AI being in our generation, it would feel like a protest to keep real art alive.

so pretty, the over the head shawl is creative and she looks gorgeous. the colours are sweet and simplistic but that is also the problem. definitely not the worst and the shawl really adds to it, however, if that wasn’t there i would probably hate it and think it was boring.

lena dunham :

it’s fun, over the top & very burlesque. not too much to say as it’s just one colour and the only thing making it pop to me is the feathers but she looks so sweet and thank god she isn’t in black. i am curious if any of these looks were actually inspired by art or artwork….

adore this girl but the colours are not it for me. i do really enjoy the upper part of her outfit but there is just something about it that i simply do not like and will probably forget about it in a week.

he dress is so gorgeous and it’s chic with art! the flowers are so pretty and clearly inspired by paintings (which i found out in her interview) so very happy someone took inspiration from a painting. it could have been more dramatic but she looks so stunning so not many notes.

oh yes this is what i am talking about. feels like something you would see in a museum, it is so unique, creative, full of texture and layers. she really went for it and she looks stunning doing so which is pleasing to see as a viewer.

looks like a princess with that tiara and her dress is lovely, but where is the art? unless she explains it’s inspired by a piece of work, i won’t know. it feels more generic red carpet rather than the met.

the deed looks backwards and it’s so cool and artistic. the colour does look fabulous on her but i think the singular colours aren’t working for me. if this had paint splats on it in white or black then damn that would be cool and fun and actually be influenced by art! i am imaging paint brushes glued to the top of the dress corset too, that would be weird and interesting.

boring, sorry but its just one colour head to toe and of course she looks amazing but yet again, where is the fun or creativity. the texture is brilliant and it is very interesting how it shines when lights hit it but not good enough for the met in my opinion.

statue, mother mary, haunted angel, love it because it is weird, over the top, fun, and currently unseen at this years met. didn’t play it safe and i think it’s better to give too much than nothing. most people look like a joke compared to her and she really went for it.

your much anticipated sequel of ‘devil wears prada’ just released and you wore a dress of “peace”. girl no, find a piece of art inspired by the devil and promote your movie whilst sticking to the artistic theme. of the met gala. this look could have been so fun but it was played safe.

her dress is art, it is gorgeous, the details are amazing. paint, silver, beads, it feels like a chic messy art class with water colours, so pretty. & the ear accessories wow! honestly draping in beauty, it is exceptional.

he is so sweet and i adore him but his outfit was too simplistic. it would have been insane if he had a white suit with his uncles face sewn in to serve as a memorial and to also show off his family & new movie. even a train draping over a basic suit with the script of the movie or something !

honestly love this look. she went with the art theme and executed it wonderfully with shapes, shades and colours.

purr. she looks fabulous and has used texture really well which is obviously a large part of art and creation. it is one of the more looks and if she showed up on a regular carpet i would not think there was anything creative about it but she looks great for her first time.

it is so weird that i love it. the way the lace is black and feels classy but the pops of colours and abstract shapes really make it fit the bill of the met gala’s theme. hate hate hate the cape because it feels out of place to me but i barely looked at it compared to the main event of her dress.

goddess, so stunning, again it is too simple and it is 100% more of a ‘general carpet’ look than the met but not the worst one i have seen.

finally a coloured suit. the blue looks so sweet on him and i enjoy the black detailing but my favourite part is his eyeshadow which is sharp and elevated. good for him.

love the outfit but i hate when gold is mixed with silver. in my opinion, if she went with pure silver or pure gold it would be great but what would be even better is if the shoes and dress where collaborative with the two tones of silver and gold blending together/ meshing.

how i am feeling so far :

it actually blows bubbles which feels like an exhibition in itself. the dress is made of bubbles which is stunning and adorable and makes up for the simplistic singular colour of pink. i do think it would have even fun to have the dress be different shades of pinks and blues to symbolise what a bubble reflects like. i really like how it is a tutu which feels inspired by ballet & ballet paintings.

audrey nuna :

obsessed, it is cruella de vil vibes, clearly ‘paint’ splats and she looks chic, put together but so on theme. goes to show how it is not hard to be artistic and fun but still classic and simple.

jordan roth :

crazy, interpretive, stillness, shadow, i really like this. i don’t have much to say as it is just a long sleeve in one colour dress but the prop attached is the art and that is understandable.

sabrina carpenter :

really like & appreciate the ‘film’ dress & vibe and i love sabrina, she is my favourite & her met look this year to me is really classic old hollywood style & in general, this is how she is. the head gems are really pretty but feel out of place to me. she looks hot like always. i did not realise her dress was film until her interview which luckily i watched. a ‘film’ arm scarf draping over her would have been fun or ‘film strips’ coming out of her hair could have added an extra artistic touch. the back is stunning and if it was larger and more voluminous then maybe what i just stated wiusonjot be necessary.

the met gala carpet it self is beautiful and so obviously inspired by the famous art piece by ‘claude monet’ bridge over water painting.

we got a peacock, people! she is gorgeous and the arm details with the dangling sikver peacock feathers are hot. he body looks magical in the silhouette & the blue really pops on her. love the wet hair but i am confused on why it is wet and how it corresponds with her look.

so sorry, i don’t know her name & i saw her for a second so i will update this but wow. this dress is beautiful with the 3d large orchid on her chest and back. the white is abit much for me personally so i would have gone with an actual orchid style with the pattern, colours, look. so different and stunning overall & it’s so creative.

over the top is here and wow she looks so theatrical and sexy and beautiful. her mask is fabulous and it calls to the theatre community which is also art! the dark lip, the red multi toned dress, the huge head piece. it is too fabulous.

i really like this, it feels a lot better compared to some other males outfits. it does remind me of pop art and 80s vibe/ inspiration but i think it would have been even better & way more campy if his trousers matched the upper pattern.

i actually like her look and i liked it even more after her interview and how she explained the backstory behind the look. the colours could be different, maybe vibrant 80s colours such as pink, blue and yellow but not bad. hated the roots on her hair.

madonna :

so artistic, the ship on her head is fantastic and although it as all black- which by now we know i hate at this event, it is abstract and dark which fits the theme of her look. the grey train is beautiful and the golden hoop to me symbolises a wheel. update : thanks to other substack users and their reviews, i have learnt that Madonna’s outfit is a direct copy of a painting by ‘leonora carrington’ so not only does it feel like an art masterpiece but it is one! i love learning new things.

beyonce :

i love the skeleton influence, very creative and glamorous. hopefully she removes the coat at some post to really show it off but it is amazing. her hands are wonderful as a skeleton, also. blue ivy looks so pretty but it doesn’t fit the theme for me and jay-z looks like every other male there which feels very lazy, especially compared to his wife.

blake lively :

really liked her dress, it is pretty and the colours do remind me of water colours but i think her dress could be made to look like a painting of the sky or clouds, just something.

kendall jenner :

i can definitely see the goddess influence and the dress is simple but lovely, however, the rest of her look felt too bland which made the dress even more boring. an un-do hairstyle with a mini stature in the bun would have been creative and topped off the look. update : her after party look was way better just. y adding the massive wings but where were they this whole time?

dripping in gold, she does look fantastic and after seeing some online posts i understand it is taken from the painting by ‘gustav klimt’ named ‘portrait of adele bloch-bauer'.’ a very pretty and clean look with a nice slick back hairdo.

always a slay and i love love love her, however, i did expect more from this diva and i think she could have taken it up a notch entirely.

rachel zegler :

so beautiful, clearly taken inspiration from the most beautiful and heartbreaking painting of ‘lady jane’. the eye mask is so simple but really elevates her look. unfortunately, without the eye mask her outfit would fall very very flat and basic.

margot robbie :

it is beautiful and she looks great, however, in my personal opinion some of her ‘wuthering heights’ looks were better and arguably more “artistic” than this look. feels flat.

there are so many people, this is insane. i am tired but i wanted to upload my first thoughts as soon as possible so please watch this space to see any more reviews, thoughts and comments.

please let me know what met gala look was your favourite? you could probably guess that mine was emma’s. overall, i think her look just really hit the jackpot for me and fit the art theme so well that other people went on to feel flat and to be frank, quite boring.

i was disappointed with almost of the execution of the looks at the met gala 2026 and in my opinion, i believe that most of the celebrities didn’t understand or care about the theme as i mostly saw black all night in both dresses and suits. what do you think about the looks and executions of the celebrities tonight? who was your top three?

i am quite confused why some celebrities picked better outfits for after the red carpet… kendall jenner wore these huge wings backstage and for what? it would have been so much better to wear on the carpet and not just backstage to really show off that ‘art’ aspect and influence. she looked fabulous and it was just a waste.

absolutely adored sabrina’s pop art dress, it was so fun, artistic and unique. very quirky which i loved. from what i have seen online, most people appear to also feel underwhelmed by the execution of fashion at this years met, that being said, of course everyone looked fabulous and glamorous, but was that ‘art’ theme truly there?

1. ‘rhode pineapple refresh’ face wash.

   this company as a whole is remarkable to me. god forbid i enjoy the ‘aesthetic’ alongside the way the products (that i have tried) make me feel. but my absolute favourite so far us the pineapple face wash. my skin is highly sensitive- i have break out of psoriasis when stressed and my skin constantly feels dry, flaky and even itchy from time to time but this face wash, although scared me because of its pineapple name at first, was actually one of the best face products i have ever personally used. it manages to wash off all my makeup, smells quite nice, the colour is adorable (yellow), packaging is simple but clean and it leaves my skin feeling fresh and hydrated. truly could not recommend this product enough but of course, understand that everyones skin is different. although £30 gap for the big bottle, i do believe it is worth the money- especially when most skin care is similar price nowadays. as a trial, maybe purchase the mini bottle at £18 gbp instead

   

   2. ‘fenty gloss bomb luminizer’ lipglosses.

   stunning, shining, thriving. these lipglosses truly changed me. i love makeup but was never a big lip kinda gal but saw some videos of the glosses and though “why not?” & now, there is no going back. nothing beats a simple shimmer eye, lotta blush and a glowing lip. the only colours i have tried so far are ‘hot chocolit’- sparkling brown and delicious and ‘riri’- purple pink shades and gorgeous smell. coming in at a price of around £20 gbp but fabulous as a gift or treat which will stay in your makeup bag for a long time and works with most looks. my makeup is not complete without a gorgeous lip to extend my natural looks & to boost my confidence.

   

   3. ‘lush super milk’ hair primer spray.

   random stranger reading this, when i tell you this is one of the best things i have ever smelt, i mean it. it has given me so many compliments, especially with how multi-usable it is: from applying on dirty hair for a fresh up, wet har to condition and leaving it soft or before drying, it is amazing. 100g is £15 gbp and 250g is £28 gbp which i agree, is abut mad, but truly worth it. i of course, recommend the bigger bottle as it lasts so much longer. the scent is lemony and reminds me of the sweet ‘sherbet’. so fun, fresh and fancy, especially when the compliments are so sweet.

   

   4. ‘rhode pocket blush’.

   this product is so small which makes it easy to carry around but it lasts longggg. i have had my pocket blush in the shade ‘sleepy girl’ for well over a year now and it is full. please bare in mind that i use this product almost everyday. the product itself is so buildable and is multi-usable. this can be used for cheeks, lips and even eyes. it is defiantly more on the natural side so you may need to touch up in a few hours but this is something that i personally do not mind. the colours are beautiful and there is a shade for everyone. the pocket blushes on their own come in at a price of £25 gbp but my first purchase was a duo of a pocket blush and lip tint for £45 gbp which again, the lip tint is gorgeous and has lasted me forever.

next we have rhode, which is one of my favourite makeup brands. i love the lip products and it is my dream to buy more. the pineapple cleanser is to die for. i have really sensitive skin but this feels amazing. of course, it may not be for everyone because of different skin types but i adore it.

kitten heels, yes yes yes please. i am not a big heel person nor do i go out as much but it would be a dream to have a little collection of really cute shoes/ heels which can spice up an outfit comfortably. i would love polka dot patterns or pink because it’s my favourite colour. carrie bradshaw who?

i need new glasses and i am obsessed with other these! to be honest, not so much that it is by dior but just the style and colour. i want nerdy big glasses when i get them tested next. so cute.

next on my list of wants is flowers. i love flowers and although this is so basic, taking pictures of a new bouquet makes me really happy, especially if they are tulips or lillies. so stunning. what is your favourite flower?

my dream is to have a february 2003 vogue gifted to me as it is my birthday month/ year but i collect vogues and each month i look forward to adding to my collection. pinterest just helps me fuel this obsession.

right, i get that summer is approaching but these hats are so cute, my best friend works in fashion & she crotchets so she said she would make me one. i just think they are so sweet and it’s exciting to think about what colours i should pick. what do you think?
