For the last three years, I have been working deeply with LLMs and watching how they actually behave. The legal industry cannot just “pivot to AI” overnight and pretend the problem is solved. Lawyers understand legal risk. Technologists understand system design. Very few people understand both well enough to see what is actually happening.

There is a lot of misleading buzz around “AI and Legal,” and I have to get this off my chest. There is no true “AI” in legal yet! What most people are calling artificial intelligence is really LLM technology — Large Language Models. And that matters because LLMs do not “know” the law. They generate language based on patterns, probability, context, and training data. That is why we now have what everyone calls hallucinations. But legal hallucinations are not simply an “attorney problem.” They are a design problem.

LLMs were not originally built to support legal reasoning, procedural rules, appellate standards, record citations, case law hierarchy, or jurisdiction-specific requirements. They were built to predict and generate text. That is a very different thing. The fix is not to ban LLMs from legal work. The fix is to build legal systems around them that understand verification, citation control, record grounding, procedural context, and jurisdictional limits.

Until true artificial intelligence is built, anyone using LLMs in legal work needs to understand one thing clearly: An LLM is not a lawyer. An LLM is not a judge. An LLM is not legal intelligence. It is a powerful language engine. And if legal wants to use it safely, the legal industry needs builders who understand both the technology and the legal consequences of getting it wrong. That is where the real opportunity is. I am one of those builders! I am open to work.

Well the question about AI and legal has been answered.

Wilfred Lee

In the coming days we will start open-sourcing our legal AI applications. President Trump and his sons can sue the IRS, prosecutors, media companies, and government institutions while being treated as political actors exercising their rights. They can speak aggressively, accuse institutions of corruption, demand accountability, and still be understood as people entitled to defend themselves. But when ordinary people — especially Black men — make grievances against institutions, corporations, courts, or government actors, the response is often immediate suspicion. We are not interpreted as citizens seeking redress; we are framed as disruptive, emotional, threatening, or unworthy of procedural dignity.

That is the contradiction people keep pretending not to see. This nearly $1.8 billion “weaponization” fund is not just about money; it reveals who is socially permitted to be harmed, believed, compensated, and respected. Some people are allowed to fight back and call it justice. Others are expected to endure quietly and call it maturity. And that silence — that selective concern, that refusal to recognize unequal legitimacy — is how power reorganizes itself in public view while everyone acts like nothing historic is happening.

The proposed $1.8 billion “weaponization” fund should concern anyone who claims to value institutional neutrality, because it creates the appearance that political power can now directly determine who qualifies as an officially recognized victim of the state. The issue is not whether government misconduct ever occurs — it absolutely can — but rather who gets access to restitution, legitimacy, and public sympathy once political influence enters the process. A fund of this magnitude raises profound constitutional, ethical, and democratic questions: What evidentiary standards will govern these claims? Who adjudicates them? Will ideological alignment become an informal prerequisite for recognition? And what precedent is established when an administration builds a taxpayer-funded mechanism capable of rewarding individuals connected to its own political movement, including people associated with January 6 narratives? The deeper concern is that Americans are becoming desensitized to the normalization of personalized state power, where grievance itself risks becoming politically stratified rather than universally protected under neutral principles of law.

Subscribe now

Claude for Legal Is Live. pro se litigants that AI has no place in their cases, a Brazilian startup just raised $100 million at a $1.2 billion valuation doing exactly what they told you not to do — using AI to fight legal battles at scale. Enter, a São Paulo-based legal AI company, built a platform that reads lawsuits, analyzes evidence, recommends settlements, and drafts legal defenses autonomously, and major corporations like Airbnb, Nubank, and Santander are paying for it. The reason it works? Brazil has 80 million active lawsuits — eight times America's caseload — and AI is eating through them. So ask yourself: if AI is sophisticated enough for billion-dollar enterprises to trust with mass litigation, why are pro se litigants in America being told it's too dangerous for them to use? The answer isn't about accuracy. It's about access. The legal industry in America has a financial interest in keeping self-represented litigants dependent, confused, and outgunned. Enter just proved the technology works. The only thing standing between you and that same firepower is the narrative they've been selling you.

A Strategic Guide to Valuing Your Case, Anchoring Your Demand, and Forcing Early Settlement Without a Lawyer

The Pro Se Employment Discrimination Settlement Negotiation Playbook

Wilfred Lee

After five years of development, The Pro Se Employment Discrimination Settlement Negotiation Playbook gives you a clear, strategic look at what defense attorneys actually do during settlement negotiations—how they evaluate your case, how they calculate risk, how they test your confidence, and how they decide when to pay and when to stall. just “lawyers.” They are architects of a specific type of defense strategy designed to win before a jury ever hears your story. They rely on technical “gotchas”—procedural maneuvers like the “Omission Doctrine”—to get cases dismissed “with prejudice” on the very first round of motions.

The “Glitch” in the Machine

In my own ongoing federal case, I’ve watched a high-level regional firm try to use these exact “Big Law” playbooks. They argued to the Judge that I “omitted” key facts to hide the truth.

But here is the catch: In their rush to keep the case dead, they committed a classic “Manifest Error.” In their latest filing, they admitted on Page 10 that the very facts they claimed I “omitted” were actually confirmed in my complaint.

They got a “With Prejudice” dismissal based on a theory they have now officially abandoned in their own writing.

The “Pro Se” Reality Check

If you are representing yourself, these firms expect you to fold. They expect you to miss the contradictions in their 30-page motions. They rely on the Judge “speed-reading” your complaint and taking the defense’s summary as gospel.

But the record doesn’t lie.

When they recommend termination before a suspension (violating their own Handbook).

When they reinstate you, only to fire you again later using the same “unsubstantiated” excuses.

When their own filings admit you didn’t “omit” the very things they used to get the case dismissed.

The Wednesday Deadline

I have extended a good-faith settlement offer of $18,500 to resolve Case 83. It is a “nuisance value” offer for a case that is currently sitting on a “materially unstable” legal foundation. They have until Wednesday at 5:00 PM to decide if they want to fix their mistake or risk a full vacatur and a move into Discovery—where “missing records” finally have to be explained under oath.

The Question for You: Have you looked at who is representing your company? Are they playing by the rules, or are they relying on the “Omission” trick?

Stay tuned. Wednesday will tell us a lot about whether “principle” or “procedure” wins the day.

Subscribe to The Pro Se Argument for more updates on dismantling the “Big Law” playbook.

Subscribe now

The Federal Court Ruled Black People Could Not Sue.
