Bitcoin has been hit. Billions were stolen from Binance. Institutional money pulled back. And the Fed just refused to give markets the easy answer they wanted.

Yet Bitcoin is still fighting around the high-$70,000s.

So the question heading into November is simple:

Are we watching the market break down or are we witnessing one final shakeout before the next major move?

Here’s everything that matters.

WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK

It was a brutal end to October.

Bitcoin fell sharply, with BTC attempting to recover toward $78,000 on Sunday after the latest sell-off. Ethereum and the wider altcoin market were hit even harder.

Three major developments drove the conversation.

First, the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00% on Wednesday. The vote was 10–2, with two policymakers actually preferring a 0.25 percentage-point increase.

That matters because the market had been looking for signs that monetary conditions could become more supportive. Instead, the Fed effectively told investors that it wants more evidence before making its next move.

Then came the biggest shock.

Binance suffered a security breach involving approximately $6.3 billion in assets.

The FBI has attributed the attack to North Korea-linked TraderTraitor. Binance says it has already replaced roughly $6 billion of the affected assets using company funds, while investigators and industry partners have identified billions more that may potentially be frozen or recovered.

And finally, institutional flows deteriorated.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $643 million of net outflows on Friday alone, turning the entire week negative despite four consecutive days of inflows beforehand.

Spot Ethereum ETFs experienced an even more persistent trend, recording net outflows throughout the week.

That is a lot of pressure for one market to absorb in a matter of days.

WHY IT MATTERS

This wasn’t simply another random crypto dip.

We had:

A major exchange security shock.

A cautious Federal Reserve.

Heavy ETF selling.

Weakness across risk assets.

Fear returning to crypto.

And yet the market hasn’t completely collapsed.

That’s important.

Major negative events give us an opportunity to see where genuine demand exists.

If Bitcoin begins stabilising after absorbing this amount of bad news, that would be constructive.

But if buyers cannot regain control and BTC continues making lower lows, then we have to respect what price is telling us.

Never marry the bullish narrative. Let the market confirm it.

BITCOIN & MARKET STRUCTURE

The $78,000–$80,000 region is now the first area I want to see Bitcoin reclaim convincingly.

BTC spent Sunday attempting to recover toward $78,000 after the sell-off.

A recovery above this region would not automatically mean the correction is over.

But it would be the first sign that buyers are absorbing the selling pressure.

If Bitcoin continues losing support instead, I become more defensive.

The mistake investors make during periods like this is trying to predict the exact bottom.

You don’t need to.

You need to identify when the balance of probability begins shifting back toward the buyers.

ALTCOIN / NARRATIVE WATCH

This is where I’m becoming increasingly interested.

When the entire market sells off, weak projects and strong projects temporarily get dragged down together.

But they don’t recover together.

Relative strength after a market-wide correction can tell us where capital wants to move next.

So I’m watching for altcoins that:

Recover faster than Bitcoin.

Hold important support while competitors break down.

Continue attracting users, liquidity or development activity.

Have genuine catalysts approaching.

Begin increasing in volume as the wider market stabilises.

I’m particularly interested in the NFT/gaming sector and selected infrastructure plays heading into the next stage of the cycle.

But this isn’t the moment to blindly buy every token that’s down 50%.

Cheap doesn’t automatically mean undervalued.

The strongest opportunities should begin separating themselves from the rest of the market.

MACRO & LIQUIDITY WATCH

The Fed has now made one thing clear:

The next move will depend heavily on incoming economic data.

That makes next week extremely important.

The official US employment report arrives on Friday, November 6, while JOLTS job openings arrive earlier in the week.

Why should crypto investors care?

Because employment feeds directly into the inflation and interest-rate debate.

A labour market that remains extremely strong could give the Fed more reason to keep monetary policy restrictive.

A labour market that cools significantly could change expectations for future policy.

And crypto remains extremely sensitive to changes in liquidity expectations.

That’s why watching Bitcoin alone isn’t enough anymore.

You need to understand the macro environment surrounding it.

WHAT I’M WATCHING NEXT WEEK

There are four things at the top of my list.

1. Bitcoin reclaiming $78K–$80K

I want to see whether BTC can turn this region back into support.

2. ETF flows

Friday’s roughly $643 million Bitcoin ETF outflow was significant. I want to know whether that was a one-day reaction to the week’s turmoil or the beginning of sustained institutional selling.

3. The US labour market

JOLTS arrives Tuesday and the October employment report lands Friday.

Expect volatility around the data.

4. Altcoin relative strength

If Bitcoin stabilises, I want to see which sectors move first.

Those early leaders could give us clues about where the next major rotation occurs.

MY TAKE

I don’t think this is the time to panic.

But I also don’t think this is the time for blind optimism.

This is the time to watch the evidence.

Crypto has just absorbed one of the largest security incidents the industry has ever experienced, a cautious Federal Reserve and renewed institutional outflows.

If the market can stabilise despite all of that, it tells us something important about underlying demand.

And if Bitcoin begins reclaiming key levels while institutional flows improve?

Then I believe November could become considerably more interesting than the final days of October suggest.

The biggest opportunities rarely arrive when everyone feels comfortable.

They tend to appear when uncertainty is at its highest and the evidence begins changing before sentiment does.

The last Bitcoin halving happened in April 2024, and if you study crypto history, you’ll know that the 12–18 months after a halving are typically the most explosive for price action. Why?
