KRMN did well but, with earnings this week, I am no longer in. I try to avoid earnings.

I was knocked out of UVXY on Thursday after taking some profits last week. That’s okay, I can always get back in. Managing a position in this chop is essential.

It is essential to backtest and notice what works. The formula of volume at support was there for every chart that worked last week. However, that doesn’t mean we always jump in blindly on a chart. It needs to confirm. We need to follow a plan.

Unfortunately, PLTR did not make that drop. Who could have predicted Cyber Security would garner so much attention last week? The great thing is we didn’t have to predict a thing. When the thesis does not hold, there is no reason to hold.

This is why UVXY was a top chart for us last week. We were targeting the pullbacks as long as it held 16.46 support. It did and then moved up to its first target 🎯 (18%).

META was a top watch for us in the last couple weeks. We were targeting downside.

AMD continued with that drop we were watching for after the loss of 606.

This occurs every year. When it happens, you can either sit on the sidelines or ride the downside. Some charts will go up, but they are the outliers at the moment.

On Monday, I shared multiple bearish charts and I highlighted the Engulfing Candle Course below 👇. There’s no shame in benefitting off the downside.

NBIS was one of them. It was a perfect drop from the Symmetrical Wedge and it hit that target right at the penny. NBIZ went 24% in two days.

CRWD was another perfect setup. The Bearish Engulfing out of the Rising Wedge was a strong tell.

10/23 Puts went over 110% in 2 days 🔥🔥.

AMD was shared over the Weekend and on Monday. It was a perfect setup in the Ascending Broadening Wedge. DAMD has gone 14% in 3 days. AMD Puts have gone significantly more.

Don’t fight the tide 🌊.

In my opinion, we will need a strong catalyst to turn things around. In the U.S., we will be having Midterm elections in a few weeks. These times can be tumultuous. We also have a myriad of headwinds:

• Inflation: September CPI rose 3.7% annually, reinforcing further Fed-hike expectations and triggering today’s selloff.bnnbloomberg+1

• Rising Treasury yields: Higher yields pressure stock valuations and raise financing costs, especially for growth and AI infrastructure companies.bnnbloomberg

• AI financing fears: Investors question rising debt and returns on massive AI spending, pressuring CoreWeave and Oracle.cnbc

• Semiconductor weakness: Chinese chip competition and Broadcom CEO Hock Tan’s “casino gambling” comparison added to AI valuation concerns.reuters+1

• Oil and Iran risks: Brent near $106 keeps inflation elevated, while Middle East supply and shipping risks add uncertainty.bnnbloomberg+1

• Disappointing bank results: Bank of America’s revenue miss and $1.2 billion regulatory penalty added pressure as financials joined tech’s decline.

Headwinds will give us a bargain in the Long Term on a LOT of stocks. However, in the short term, we can profit off fear and downside. I will share more below 👇.

More than 60% are trading below the 200 EMA.

Many names just can’t find a bottom.

Others are in “chop purgatory.”

For those who insist on trading every day, the downside moves seem to have most follow-through 📉. But, many might just use this as a time to take a break, let the market chop until a clear catalyst comes in, and keep their powder dry.

This is the Bearish Engulfing chart I referred to above. Don’t swim against the tide 🌊

In the Weekend Newsletter, I featured AMD as a “short idea.” Many of us played DAMD

The HIMS daily chart was looking sooo good. The Symmetrical Wedge was compressing and it was ready. However, it popped right at the open. Now, usually a pop at the open is reason for caution. However, notice how it popped right into resistance. That is a double caution ⚠️⚠️. Add in the choppy market conditions and you would have been better off sitting on your hands. This is the kind of price action that is driving some traders crazy. Just know these days won’t last forever. Make sure you keep some powder dry for when they open up the flood gates… patience.

Bullish charts have worked. ODD is an example. It was shared on 9/30 (up 14% since). Bull is another one that bounced well for us in recent days.

Anybody can win when the market is hot. But, if you’ve been trading for more than a year, you know conditions change, markets cool off, and stocks drop. Do NOT allow your emotions to fluctuate with the market. Trading in the Zone is a book I read each year. It is my “go to” when I can tell my emotions are getting the best of me.

This is why we need a system of binary conditionals. We need to know “when.”

• When are you out?

• When do you walk away for the day?

The breakout was strong, but it ran into multiple levels of resistance. Sell into 🎯s.

But, let’s also look at RKLB. It was showing “potential” and they had good news. However, it never confirmed over the trigger. Therefore, no position.

The Market has a way of humbling people if they stay in it long enough. Personally, I believe it is best to stay humble, know “when”, and compound your gains. These words are especially true in a Choppy Market.

AAOI went 24% since I shared late last week. If you notice in the chart below, I did change that target. I moved it down to reflect the close on 8/20. I’m sharing this because I want to get even better with my targets. I don’t want to reach too high and hold too long. You can also tell on intraday candles (sell long upper shadows).

SPCX was up 10% in 2 days… right into resistance. We shouldn’t be surprised to see a chart struggling right at resistance. If you’re trading short-term options, sell into strength and don’t hold too long. If it keeps flying without you, so be it. At least you’re not holding the bag. Long term, I still like these 2 charts (SPCX, AAOI).

My short answer to “Should I just play the downside?” is No. Just play the chart in front of you and know exactly WHEN you are selling. Here’s another example 👇.

In a choppy market you have to know when you are in and when you are out. Stock those 10-15% gains and then find the next one.

The good news is the RVOL Scan actually found an intriguing sector (Energy). The follow-through wasn’t great today but we do have some charts to watch now.

• AXTI Calls went over 40%

• FPS Calls went over 30% after we adjusted the trigger on Wednesday

• TSLA Puts went over 50% in 2 days (example below)

• However, an advantage is to know when NOT to hold a position

  • YSS, RDW, DFDV, EMAT, GEMI, IONQ either lost support or didn’t confirm

    • Yes, this is not enjoyable but practicing discipline keeps you in the game

    • The market will be like this at times. The chop can be brutal

      • Above all else take care of your capital (financial and mental)

      • It’s okay to take a break for a bit and get your head right

      • This is a marathon and you will be rewarded if you can be patient and disciplined in the chop. Look at the Weekly Heat Map. You’re not the only one feeling frustrated by the wars, inflation, rates, treasury yields

Market Breadth has been awful since July. Look at this drop in charts trading > 200MA

This article goes further into the breadth concerns out there. Does this mean that markets are going lower? No, participation could change based on news at any time. However, bad breadth does indicate that the stock markets’ internals are becoming weaker, making them more susceptible to a correction. In short, the market is tired and we will need to continue to be strategic in any longs we pursue. I will share at least one chart below that favors a downside opportunity for us.

I’m fascinated by technicals. I truly am. It is a trading hack to know your levels. When you see them, and finally admit algos run the market, you’ve landed on a cheat code.

We are dealing with a multitude of headwinds but the market is holding up:

• Oil prices and tensions due to the Strait of Hormuz

• Treasury yields keep climbing

• Inflation re-acceleration

• AI Capex

• Tariff and trade uncertainty

How to manage your winners? I’ve laid it out on the chart. Scale into strength, then know where your stop 🛑 is. Following this helps me avoid FOMO. Do NOT overtrade. Let your winners run (especially after they break from a consolidating pattern). This is how MRNA looked when I shared it on 9/16. Notice the high volume breakout, followed by the low volume consolidation. Patience was rewarded.

Yes, we made money off BMNR last week, but I believe this is just the beginning. This has all the looks of a Stage 2 Breakout. Trend is up. Former resistance is support.

• $TNX: the 10 Year Treasury (all the treasuries tbh)

This monthly chart shows a breakout in treasury yields. Rising yields mean existing Treasury bond prices are falling, creating losses for holders who need to sell before maturity. Higher Treasury yields also lift borrowing costs across the economy—especially mortgages, auto loans, and corporate debt—and can pressure stock valuations because safer bonds now offer more competitive returns. It isn’t awful news but it is a definite headwind.

MRNA was worth the wait. This came from avoiding the chase and waiting for consolidation.

But, the market is always teaching us. No matter how much I like the DPRO setup, I won’t take the trade unless it confirms over resistance. No confirmation = No Trade
