Hello! It is JUNE and therefore TIME for our conversation podcast episode, that is free for all to hear, discussing IT ALL. Like we do.

In this episode, PFT reminisces about Miranda Priestly, Janie tries to understand municipal politics and TOGETHER they uncover an ancient but important blog.

So buckle in, my dearies, sit back, relax and get to PODDIN’ with Janie & Paul (an alt title perhaps, in our PARALLEL LIVES??)

Huggles,

JHT & PFT

Some of you have been following along and know I had the honor of bringing a character to the screen in a festival-worthy short film called This is the Way the World Ends.

Our short but mighty 13-minute film had its premiere last month at the New York Short Film Festival in Manhattan, and it is now going to be screened next month in Louisville, KY in the Speed Shorts Block on Saturday, July 25, 2026 as part of the Flyover Film Festival! So, if there are any Kentucky-based cinephiles out there, July’s got the goods!

The Manhattan screening at Cinema Village last month was transcendent! And I was beyond touched that two VERY lovely Stay F. Homekins podcast listeners attended and said hello to me (I am blushing!) THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, it was a very sweet surprise.

It is unclear if I can swing a trip to Louisville next month to see the screening at Flyover, but Jen Sims, my dear friend and our esteemed producer will be in attendance representing us all. She is a born and bred Louisville gal, so she is the perfect envoy from our ensemble to represent. And possibly our brilliant director Jeremiah Murphy will be traveling from NYC to also spread the word about the short.

I have included This is the Way the World Ends below, should you want to view it and support or film. It is a contemplative movie that presents the question: if there were only 8 hours left before the world ceases to exist, how would you spend it? The film stars myself and Monica Wyche and beautifully and cinematically presents how our two characters would process the end of the world…

Sharing here to the premium crowd, and I am hoping to go wider with it soon. For now, though, any Weekend Water subscription is deeply appreciated. A new, monthly Stay F. Homekins pod will be dropping this week, and we are working on getting a fun summer movie watch-a-long in the books this month for our beloved listeners (in between the 2026 Comedy Bang! Bang! tour stops!)

Thank you and please enjoy This is the Way the World Ends and feel free to discuss the film in our comments.

Staying sane, safe and (sometimes) strong,

Janie

From the Hollywood trenches,

Janie & PFT

I am so proud and pleased to share that This is the Way the World Ends, a beautiful short film I had the honor of starring in alongside the great actress Monica Wyche (and longtime friend), will be premiering as an official selection of the New York Short Film Festival: 6pm, Sunday, May 17th at Cinema Village.

My co-star Monica and I will be in attendance, along with our writer-director Jeremiah Murphy and producer Jen Sims (also, longtime friend). New Yorkers, we would love to see you there! This is the Way the World Ends will be in Shorts Block 7, 6pm on May 17 and tickets are available HERE.

We shot This Is the Way the World Ends as a love letter to everyone living through this moment of collective helplessness. Choosing love, hope and connection is the way.

What is your impending apocalypse? Is it climate change, mid-life, menopause, maybe your work, your changing creativity, loss of a loved one, the constant barrage of bad news headlines that seem a fixture of modern life…any end that folds into any beginning…how will YOU spend it?

The entire team behind this short is a group of thoughtful artists and filmmakers who think deeply about what it means to be alive right now. This story is a visual and emotional plea for us all to consider our shared humanity, and we gave it everything we had on an indie budget and with all of our dedicated time and energy. If you're in New York City, it would mean SO MUCH to share this with you. And, if you are elsewhere, we hope to bring it to a festival near you…so, please, we invite you to follow our trajectory at the instagram of This is the Way the World Ends.
