Summary

Apply the naming guidance from #9717 and #9719 across the Python 3.15 implementation.

  • Remove 95 unnecessary name overrides across 46 Rust files, including pygetset, pymethod, pyfunction, pyarg, pyattr, pyclassmethod, and pymember.
  • Give Python bindings their canonical Rust names and rename conflicting internal helpers and their callers. Use raw identifiers for keyword argument fields where FromArgs already supports them.
  • Preserve Python-visible names, signatures, argument order, defaults, and positional/keyword modes. Keep intentional aliases, necessary keyword mappings, and distinct type/storage names.

Validation

  • Passed repository commit hooks, including rustfmt and cspell.
  • Passed cargo check --locked --offline -p rustpython-vm -p rustpython-stdlib --all-targets --features rustpython-vm/threading,rustpython-stdlib/threading.
  • Passed the corresponding cargo clippy command. It reports existing generated-module unused-Result warnings and a generated Unicode dead-code warning; no new naming warnings.
  • Source audit verified unchanged exported names and argument metadata.

Workspace tests were started but stopped during compilation. CAPI tests, Python runtime suites, OpenSSL-specific checks, and the WASM build have not completed locally. This remains a draft pending broader validation and CI.

Remove unnecessary method, property, argument and attribute name overrides. Rename internal helpers and callers while preserving exported names, signatures, defaults and intentional aliases.
