The OpenJDK regression tests ran only in the release workflow, in one job of about 1 h 40 min, so a regression showed up only when a release failed. Both v0.1.0 attempts that failed did so there.

  • .github/workflows/jtreg.yml, a reusable workflow, runs test/jtreg/passing.txt in up to 4 parallel jobs. test.yml calls it on pull requests and pushes to master; release.yml runs it in full and publishes only after it passes.
  • scripts/jtreg/select.ts picks the tests a pull request needs from its diff: the zip natives run java/util/zip and java/util/jar, file natives java/io and java/nio, sockets java/net, Java2D and fonts java/awt and java/beans; lines added to passing.txt run those tests; docs, browser-only code and the other tests run none. Any other file (the interpreter, JIT, class loading, the Node entry, the runner, workflows) runs every test, so a file the map does not know costs time, not coverage. Pushes to master and releases always run everything.
  • run.ts --only-passing no longer runs each test on HotSpot first, since the list already passed there, and takes test-area filters and --shard k/n.

This pull request changes the runner, so its own CI runs the full split suite.

…l jobs, picking the tests a pull request's changes need.

The trusted-publisher condition is not established.

The repository does not define or document npm trusted-publisher configuration for @project516/java-web. The workflow grants id-token: write only to the publish job, but this does not establish that npm will accept that token for publishing. The proposed separate publish job is therefore unsupported by the available evidence.

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Automated OpenJDK regression tests now run for pull requests, pushes, and eligible releases.
    • Pull requests run tests selected based on changed files; pushes and eligible releases run the full test suite.
    • Test runs are divided into parallel batches, helping keep validation efficient while covering selected tests.

The change adds a reusable JTReg workflow that selects tests, divides them into shards, and runs them. Test and release workflows invoke it. The runner now supports filtered, sharded execution of passing tests.

Changes: JTReg CI

Layer / File(s) Summary
Test selection and sharded execution
scripts/jtreg/select.ts, scripts/jtreg/run.ts
The selector maps changed paths to test areas and calculates shards from passing-test entries. The runner filters test IDs and runs the assigned shard. In --only-passing mode, it skips the HotSpot action loop.
Reusable JTReg workflow
.github/workflows/jtreg.yml
The workflow plans filters and shards, then runs nonempty shards in parallel against a sparse checkout of the matching OpenJDK 25u tree.
Test and release workflow integration
.github/workflows/test.yml, .github/workflows/release.yml
The test workflow runs full JTReg on pushes. Non-prerelease releases run full JTReg before publishing. The inline release test step is removed, and publish now depends on the JTReg job.

The CI test selection and sharding changes are sound overall. Before merging, consider validating the shard argument, disabling persisted checkout credentials, and handling renamed files in test selection. All three are small, bounded fixes.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title states the main change: OpenJDK regression tests now run in CI, split across jobs and selected by the diff. The raw summary shows a new reusable jtreg.yml workflow, select.ts for diff-based test selection, and test.yml calling the workflow, so the title matches the changeset. It is concise and specific, and it needs no search or citations because it is judged from the supplied context.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description matches the changeset. It explains the reason for the change (the OpenJDK tests ran only in the release workflow), names the new reusable jtreg.yml workflow, and describes select.ts, the passing.txt additions, and the run.ts changes for --only-passing and --shard. Each of these appears in the raw summary.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 2 files. (3 skipped: 3 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

This PR adds a reusable jtreg workflow (jtreg.yml) that runs OpenJDK regression tests in parallel shards, with test selection based on changed files via select.ts. The release workflow now runs the full suite before publishing, and test.yml runs selected tests on PRs and all tests on pushes to master. The runner (run.ts) adds sharding support and skips HotSpot verification for known-passing tests.

This PR introduces a reusable workflow (jtreg.yml) to run OpenJDK regression tests in parallel shards on PRs and pushes, with test selection based on changed files via select.ts. The runner (run.ts) adds --shard support and skips HotSpot validation for --only-passing tests. A critical bug exists: the listed() function in run.ts calls itself recursively, causing infinite recursion and stack overflow. The workflow also expands $FILTERS unquoted, which is fragile but currently safe given filter formats.
